Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “For sale= 1942 GPW jeep built by Ford during World War Two. The body in my opinion, is better than average, it is missing a few parts, but everything is available, as reproduced or can be ordered as original, it needs seats, gas tank and headlights to start with, it will run, and has a title in my name. This is a very good project jeep, it has a lot to work with and a lot of history behind it.”

This has some interesting history and an unusual revenue data tag.
“This is an early Ford GPW Jeep. Serial number 9622, Delivered on March 30, 1942. It has been sitting in a shed for the last 40 years after the owner broke the transfer case. It was a maintenance jeep at a park in its second life. I have a clear title to it. A lot of the jeep appears to be original except the engine. It looks like they switched out the basic engine, but put a lot of the military hardware back on, carb, alternator, starter, etc. The engine turns over, and the previous owner said it ran when he broke the transfer case. I do know where there is a MB engine. It has a voltage converter under the dash. The frame stamp matches the serial number. The seat pads look original. The owner said it came out of the Harrisburg, PA Army Barracks. All the parts pictured go with it.
43,000 mileage, sold as is, no warranty. Condition fair.”

Fine looking jeep as is, but looks restorable to stock as well.

“1942 Ford Jeep. Was running when stored 3 years ago. Hooked charger to battery and it turns over. Has canvas cover frame. Was used as a hunting rig. Has tow bar and wired in tow lights. Has one original metal rifle/machine gun scabbard next to seat.
Ready for restoration or some cleanup and work and great for hunting. Lost title but have signed State bill of sale.”

Sean’s been making good progress on a 1943 GPW that he bought last year and gives credit to Merlin Hanson for helping him locate it. Sean also managed to find another GPW body off of eWillys. As you can see from the photos, he’s disassembled it and now working on cleaning, repairing and reassembly. Unfortunately, the cold, snowy weather hasn’t been very helpful. Sean has this T-90/TC for sale.
