(07/21/2012) I believe this was for sale in 2008.  It appears solid.

“1942 Ford GPW (Jeep) for sale . Partial restore.
Body clean, needs a little work,
glass is good,
seats restored,
engine purr’s like a kitten.
transmission is good (a bit of whirl in the drive line)
New rubber on original rims.
Electrical is good. Dash is in good shape with S/N seal.

Jeep also comes with a winch if needed (not installed, not original), tow bars. Overall the jeep is clean and runs well. Mechanically it will not need a much work. Jeep runs great. Is a great restoration project that should be relatively easy. Gets a lot of thumbs up going down the road.

UPDATE:  Still Available

(02/10/2012) The fenders appear to have an unusual mod in the front.  The body looks more like a replacement fiberglass body than a ’48 body.  The rear axle looks CJ-2Aish.  Overall it looks like a solid build.

It sure looks like there are some parts worth saving.  This was taken in The Republic of Djibouti, Africa, and posted on Flickr.  After some searching, I discovered these are probably Hotchkiss (see m201 website).

Year? GPW Tehachapi, CA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: *SOLD** Was on eBay

This is a project.

“This is a very early and hard to find version of the WWII Jeep. The first few thousand were made using Willys MB frames with the GPW number stamped into the frame and this is one of those. The frame and data tag number is GPW 4370. The motor number is 9460. As you can see it needs repair to the tub but the tub is straight and I don’t see rust. It has a Ford transmission and transfer case, original Ford marked top bow brackets and bows. Original windshield with early brass latches. I will only run it on Ebay once on a 5 day sale and it will not go cheap but if you are looking for a rare one to do, this is it. Buyer must pickup, bill of sale and title included.”
