Lynn’s 1943 GPW

Paul wrote to say that a friend of his brought this GPW by for a look.

Paul writes, “My friend Lynn stopped by a few days ago to show me his most recently purchased Jeep.  It’s a 1943 Ford, in pretty solid shape considering the fact it’s been parked outside under a spruce tree for many years.  Lots of spruce needles covering the inside of the tub, the usual rust in the floors along with dents and dings but a pretty darn complete 69 year old Jeep.  Also included with this Jeep (but stored in the tow vehicle for the trip home) were both front seats and the folding rear seat.  Numerous parts are stamped with the letter F and all three data plates are still attached to the glove box door.  Not only did the neighbors come over to eyeball the Jeep when it was parked in front of the house but Lynn mentioned on the way home while stopped in traffic and while in a parking lot folks were wanting to look the Jeep over and some even tried to buy it.  Anyway, this old Ford arrived safely at it’s new home where a pressure wash will remove the grime and plant residue and allow a more in depth inspection of this steel soldier.”

1942 GPW Body Vista, CA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Body Parts, GPW (Ford MB) This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was $500

This includes a grille and fenders.

“I’m selling a 1942 Willys Jeep tub with title. Tub is a GPW which is very similar to an MB. This was a trail Jeep that I dismantled in order to use most of the parts on a different Jeep. Being a trail Jeep it has more than it’s fair share of bumps, bruises and modifications. Use your own drivetrain and axles and make a cool rock crawler or sand Jeep. If you’re looking for a Jeep to restore to original condition, I’m sure you can find a better candidate than this one.
Provide your name and phone number in your e-mail or I will not respond.
This is what is included:
Tub, fenders, hood, grill, headlights, 12 gallon RCI fuel cell, frame, title with registration good until September. After September it will be on non-op status.
Here are some of the things that are not included:
Engine, tranny, transfer case, axles, windshield. I do have a few miscellaneous items I could throw in depending on what you need for whatever you’re going to make of it.
The title stays with the tub and frame. I’m not selling any of the parts separately at this time. And just to save us all some time, the no haggle price is $500. No trades or other offers will be considered.
Provide your name and phone number in your e-mail or I will not respond.
More pictures available.”

1943 GPW Klamath Falls, OR **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was on eBay.

The seller also has a few more things, such as 5 combat rims for $500, that he will sell to the winner of this auction.

“Offered to the highest bidder, this WWII-era Ford manufacturered GPW 1/4t Utility Vehicle (JEEP) serial number 125,686 with a build date of 7 June 1943.  Perfectly restorable tub and frame with the complete running gear from the transmission back along with plenty of “F” marked parts.  The serial numbers of the tub and frame match along with the title so all that’s missing is the original motor.  The front floor and lower firewall to include the axe patch , radio junction box and the radiator crossmember need replacement but from the machine gun mount back it’s sold including the hatchannels, tool box wells and back bumper.  I have not inspected the transmission, transfercase or drive lines and pumpkins for functionality but I assume they will clean up nicely once all the road debris and accumulation of grease and dirt has been wire-wheeled off.”

1943 GPW Maryville, MO **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was $5000

Looks like some rust on the driver’s side, but otherwise appears pretty solid.

“This is a 1943 Ford GPW I picked up in 2008 with intentions to restore. I don’t have the time it needs and need to clear up a little space. The pictures show it needs some body work. We have a new fuel pump for the Jeep that goes with it. It comes with the windshield, a rare back seat. The fuel tank leaks and we tried getting it fixed. The engine is free and the seller put fuel in the carburetor to fire it up and it turned over in 2008. Buyer will have to apply for a lost title on this vehicle. I do have the bill of sale around from the auction it was purchased”

GPW Motor Kanly, NC $500

• CATEGORIES: Engine, GPW (Ford MB) This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This has not been started by the seller.

“I am unsure of the year maybe you can tell from the pictures. Army jeep motor i believe out of a Ford jeep since it is marked GPW. Call 1910-305-590seven for more info. Also have some cj body style m38a1 jeeps sold seperately. I have not cranked the motor it lacks a starter. Someone had threw it inside a m38a1 when i purchased it. Motor appears to have the original carb. I would be interested in any and all trades of similar value”
