SOLD

“This is a rare barn find!  It’s not often you find one of these untouched military jeeps.  You are bidding on a 1944 GPW with matching engine and frame numbers.  No data tags.  Jeep comes with bill of sale only.  Although the body is rough, this is a great restoration project.  Many original parts are still on the jeep such as spare tire carrier and support bracket.  You can still see the original seat cushions (horse hair)along with seat covers on the back seat and driver seat.  The jeep sits on four original combat wheels which I believe are still mounted to the original tires.  Original hood numbers are visible under the flaking blue paint (will try to uncover the complete number in the morning) All three original Ford seats are still on the jeep.  Original script bolts hold the body handles in place.  I am putting this jeep up for sale in as found condition; Engine, tranny along with all mechanical components have not been tested but appear to be damage free.  Since the jeep is sold as is, I recommend that all interested parties ask all questions and do all their research before placing a bid.  For our mutual protection I will except offers through ebay for our mutual protection but please do not wait until the end of the auction to make offers.  I will consider any rare jeep parts such as slat grill parts, GP parts etc. as patial trade toward the jeep as I have many other projects.  A $1000 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction.”

“GPW project. Most is there, a later jeep tub was grafted on. Additional GPW tub will be included. The lift was done by a simplle spring over axle. not an original engine but we can look over one that is at the yard for an additional cost. This is the WWII jeep you always wanted, an affordable project. The non original windshield, tow bar and tailgate have pending sales and are not part of this sale. Updated pictures will be changed out if needed. email any questions or to come see it. Ed”

(10/26/2010) Scott spotted this Ad.  It might be a real solid find for an East Coast GPW.  Note that his has a M-38 Grille.

“Flat Head Four original engine. Runs but needs work. Would make a fun off road vehicle or a nice restoration project. $2000.00 FIRM.”

Unclear if the numbers match, but this sure looks like a good price on a nice GPW.  It’s not a perfect restoration.

This looks solid and has some body dings for character.

“Regretfully, I am selling my 1942 Ford GPW Jeep. This authentic WWII beauty is registered and regularly taken out for a jaunt around the neighborhood. The floor boards are solid and the brass plates are all intact. Keep it as is for a head turning, open air cruiser or turn it into a priceless father son restoration project. I am asking $6000. Send me a message for more details or to see it in person.”
