Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Clear title. Price is firm, I’m selling this for a friend named Barry. He inherited this after his father passed away. It’s a Ford GPW.
Date of delivery 3-3-43
Serial #100328 (matching frame and body)
Engine is MB225042 with the correct T84 tranny.
Barry states the Jeep hasn’t been ran in 3 years. Body has some bondo but is overall in pretty good shape. For $300 extra includes a brand new canvas top in the box from Surplus City Jeep Parts in CA.”
It’s got some non-stock parts.

The odometer lists the mileage as 79.7, likely miles driven after the restoration. A U.S. Army Signal Corps Motorola C-847/U control radio head unit and power supply with a telephone style microphone hand set is also included with the Jeep. Condition is very good in appearance with some small areas of light rust. Mechanically the vehicle runs. This jeep was reconditioned by Bechtel in Oakland, California.
“1942 Ford GPW Jeep. Original “Ford script” body. Reconditioned/rebuilt on April 26, 1945 in Oakland, California. Older restoration. Prior owner was entering it in parades. Original seats. 50 caliber machine gun and gun mount. Rear seat. Canvas top. Willys engine has good (130psi to 135psi) compression and starts well, but needs new head gasket. Has been mostly stored over the last few years and needs a full tuneup. Ford script tires. Clear California title.”

“Original 1944 Ford Gpw willys jeep. Needs restore. Has a WWII 1942 Gpw engine. The frame is a 1944 Gpw. parked since 1992 non op. Still has oil and water in the jeep. Had a blown head gasket when parked. Motor turns over by hand easily.”
