Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Jay spotted this. I wonder if a hole was cut in the hood and then patched.
“Serious buyers only! Original and tuned up 4-cylinder 134 engine 2.2L. 3-speed transmission with Hi/Lo transfer case. Manual locking hubs (better to know front hubs are locked). Bigger gas tank and converted to 12V system. Very clean and in good shape, especially the age of of the Jeep. Looking for a good owner who knows these jeeps. Clean title!”

“Ford Army Jeep. Matching serial numbers on engine block, chassis, and body. OD finish, new top, new tires, new Brakes, brake lines, Front and rear end, transfer case, and transmission all rebuilt. Engine smokes but runs. 85% correct restoration, 95% complete restoration. Title in hand. Cash or certified check only.”

It’s had some work done.
“The following has been rebuilt: Frame, steering, brakes, suspension, Carburetor, master cylinder, etc. New tires, major portions of the electrical system, water pump, etc. Engine overhauled (according to the previous owner) in 2011. I rebuilt or repaired most of the subsystems except for the tub which you can see and I have a detailed list of all the parts replaced. It has been converted to 12 volt. Apparently, in the late 40’s, the front grill was replaced with a CJ2A grille, the T84 transmission was swapped out for a T90 and a tailgate was installed. It is a true GPW though with the machine gun mount and plenty of “F” marked parts.
Included in the price are a large collection of extra parts including an extra T90 transmission, Dana 18 Transfer case, two gallons of GFI Olive lusterless paint as well as two of the GFI Red Oxide Primer. I have lockout hubs on it now to minimize the wear on the front diff but I do have the original hubs.
I’ve also heavily documented the entire restoration process on CD so you know what has taken place. I drive it around town on the weekends (as far as the 40 mile/hr top speed will take me) so it is kept in good running condition.”
