Willys Overland speedometer – $40 Hampden, MA

This is a great piece, super clean and great patina, I would not over restore this one, clean it up, make it look nice, but don’t over do it and ruin the age and beauty of this one. It’s a good one.

Clean looking, speedo needle is intact, gauges look clean. Lists as a 1948, its 0-80 so could be on the money there. It’s a neat piece someone should swing by and save this one. It would be in my pile for sure. Glady pay you Tuesday for a Willys Speedometer today. I have a rig that could use this one.

Information from seller:

1970 Jeep Jeepster Convertible 8702 $7500 Allenhurst, NJ

So have to get in the weeds to see the details, it sounds like the Jeep is $7500 complete but if the thing does not sell sounds like will be parted out a bit the top alone could be listed for $3750.

Learned a little bit about Jeepster Convertibles today thanks to the Jeepsterman’s video explaining the difference between the 8701 and 8702

The 8702 should be a true convertible, the tailgate should be functional, there is no trim down the side, they are a little more of a basic model vs the fancier 8701. This does look the part of a 8702 as per the video.

I saw an 8701, maybe last year in NJ, pop up for sale and it had the Continental Kit with the bump out bumper, it was really nice for a NJ car.

This is a neat find but will need some work and is a project for sure in its current state.

Information from seller:

1970 JEEP JEEPSTER COMMANDO AUSTERE 8702 – Project car for sale- Clear title. Stopped restoration midway. Was running OK when I started. Was a V6, p/s p/brake, p-top, deluxe black interior. Selling as pictured as a rolling body- Ino motor, trans, top frame or rear bumper or tailgate.) All else will be included. Will separately list the top frame & motor, the deluxe black interior/ auto console, hubcaps, etc separately when I can get good pics of them…) this price includes all exterior trim shown in the photos, lights, grill, fenders, hood, radiator, p/steering pump & box, glove box, switch panel, speedo. Will include the good top frame, power motor and pistons, deluxe black interior front and rear seats, an auto console, all in decent shape for $7500 total. (Will sell top frame alone for best offer- I paid $3K for it from Russell Witkopf.) Asking $3750 located in central NJ (zip 07740) Not responding to ” is it still for sale” bots

Here is a great quick video explaining what the 8701 and 8702 are and how they are different from the Commando.

1949 Willys Jeepster L148 Engine Convertible- SOLD AT AUCTION $4,150 (March 23, 2025)

Too late to snag this its SOLD at Auction, but I ran across at a local to me Auction site and thought it was a really neat rig and would share the information, I think its had a lot of original stuff going for it and the low VIN was also of interest to me.

The L148 Engine is not super common either, this is a neat ride.

NOT FOR SALE.

But there is another L148 posted on OWF that is a few hundred serial from this one.

1950 Willys Jeepster – $14,800 Hooksett, NH

Wow what a great stance IMO, and looks like a quality restomod, the interior fit out and details like the shifter set up in the photos at least look well done. I like it.

Information from seller:

1950 Willy’s Jeepster. This is an old school resto-mod done years ago. No rust on body or frame. Excellent condition. Power plant is a 3.1 Chevy V6 with a turbo 350 tranny, so it rolls right down the road. Everything else is stock, suspension, interior, etc. aftermarket radio w Bluetooth. Everything works and passes inspection including heater. Will consider interesting trades.

1950 Willys Jeepster $19,500 Indianapolis, IN

Dealer listed off Hemmings, but sharp looking Jeepster in the photos IMO. Needs some things and a good going over mechanically maybe, but overall looks like you can be enjoying Summer in this one and do some of the basics then peck away at it in the late Fall and next Winter. Can’t hurt to put on your list if your in the Market for a Jeepster this season.

Seller’s Description

This Very Nice Example is in Excellent Condition overall with a recent high quality paint job, nice Brightwork, and a very nice interior. It runs and drives very well and is fitted with an Overdrive. Both the engine and OD unit were rebuilt by specialists roughly 8 years ago. Featuring a Radio and Heater, Full Carpet set, Side Curtains and Boot, this Jeepster has it all!

Offered out of long term ownership and with a known history going back many years, this Jeepster needs nothing really but a happy new owner.

Shriners Willys Jeepster $12,580 Roanoke, VA

1950 Willys Jeepster Convertible * Only used for parades, garage maintained since 1973 by Shriners

Listed as a 1950, looks earlier than that, has the L134, gauges are earlier, hood and the bright work, not a Jeepster guru by any means but the basic lean towards this is earlier.

Either way its pretty cool, not a bad price point, says Make and Offer!

How Long Have You Owned Your Rig?

Dad owned at least since 1958, I owned since 1970

Please add some details or a story about your rig, any special places visited or memories with your rig?

Dad’s 49 Jeepster was red in color with the upper in black. The body was remounted onto a Willys pickup chassis that was shortened 14 inches and retained all the original drive train with a Timken 4.88 rear end, T90 with D18 transfer case, a 265 Chevy small block with power brake booster, a PTO driven winch and spare gas tank from 1955-58 truck. It was not the purest of conversions.

This was one of the main vehicles in the family and we used it at the mountain place, in Laramie, and hunting. Dad would go up to various mining claims in the mountains and salvage ore carts, horse drawn winches, ball mill, and other apparatus from the abandoned mines. He would tell me that he was usually in the lead with various 4WD excursions with his buddies and that they were too scared to drive their universal jeeps as fast as he would go in the Jeepster and especially with side hills.

It had bucket seats out of a Corvair I believe. Another anomaly was the hanging pedals out of a 50’s mercury. Even had a hydraulic clutch with a ford slave cylinder and I believe a master cylinder from a Ford.

We rarely had the top down living in Wyoming and the dust and brass zippers, never got along well.

Notes

I partially rebuilt from 73-81, Sold it to my step-daughter in about 1986, then bought it back in about in 2007 I did a full restoration at that time.

Thanks again for sharing this great back story and history on this one!
