This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The seller just bought this, but now wants to sell it. No indication as to why. I’ve never seen one with a top like this (but I don’t’ follow them too closely).

This is listed as a Mighty Mite, which it isn’t, but at a starting bid of $150 this looks like a good parts M-151 for someone. This is part of an estate sale.
“You are looking at a Mighty Mite Jeep that is being sold as part of an estate sale. I wish I could give you a year but I simple do not know an refuse to mis-represent the products I sell, but it Produced in the 50’s for the U.S. Marine Corp, with less then 4000 ever made. This is a desert car so the body is very well preserved. The motor is still there but has not been started for many years and is missing the carb. It dose has the fold down wind shield but the glass is missing, You will also notice that the seats are not there either. There I a old, hand crank winch in the car that is also part of the sale. There is no title, but with an old car like this it should not be hard to get. This would be great for restoring or built out to an off road beast.”

It runs, but it looks like it has been stuck in the field for a while.

This is a running M-151, though it is certainly dirty.
“I am selling my jeep because I have to many toys and some have to go. 68 m151a1 four cylinder four speed four wheel drive. Has not been registered in about 15 years. I started it last year and the motor sounded pretty good. I took the carb off to rebuild it and now I am tired of it. Definitely needs some love but its pretty much complete. Bill pointed out that this is actually a M-151A2 Encore. These were built using the M-151A2 running gear for a couple years in the late 90s. You can read more about them at the G503.com site. Here are good pics of another Encore. Here’s the discussion of the body at the G838.org site. I tried to find more info on the history of Encore, but didn’t have success, though it went out of business around 1999.
Greg pointed out this unusual M-151. It’s not clear to me if this was built from scratch or rebuilt, but it sure looks like a pretty new vehicle. In that sense, it’s a rather rare vehicle. If this WAS built from new parts, then $25,000 isn’t all that high of price to have someone built a vehicle from scratch. Including the cost of labor, building a jeep from scratch with new parts would likely land in the $25000 realm. The ad includes lots of pics.
