Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. As you can see in the pics, this is a project.
“this jeep has a 2.5″ suspension lift. Buick 231 V6 swap with a t90 transmission and dana 18 transfer. Original military axles with 5.38 gears (dana 44 rear, dana 25 front). I have the data plates as well as the serial plate. New plastic gas tank. Frame is in perfect condition, fenders are great, hood is a little dented but not rusty, tub needs floor pan work and some minor panel work. I bought this jeep to build an offroad toy with but just purchased a wrecked Wrangler Rubicon and dont have the time to build two jeeps (plus I have a Wrangler unlimited for my daily driver). I am negotiable a little bit on the price but dont waste my time with ridiculous offers. I have a ton of pictures I can email to serious buyers, currently the motor is out and on a stand in my shop, fenders hood and grill are removed and stripped of paint. I had planned to wheel the jeep in the body shop soon and replace the floors and do the body work.”
This is a veteran of the Kansas National Guard.

Runs and drives great. Over the years replaced alot of parts, New windshield,five tires and tubes, and painted rims,rear tail lights,several of the dash guages, miscelanious engine parts,reapholestered all seat covers,installed seatbelts, it curently has a civilian top. Thanks to a reader named Brett for pointing out this jeep. The front part of the jeep appears to be a M-38, though the year is off. On the other hand, the rear body on this jeep looks suspiciously CJ-5ish. I’d like to see some close up pics to see how the front and rear of the body has been merged. Perhaps it is a M-38 and 1954 M-38A1?

I can’t tell if this is a M-38 or not.
“I have a 1951 willys jeep i am going to sell, it is in good shape, it has the bigger front end and rear end in it, newer tires and wheels, bigger 4 clyinder motor, it has a new tune up including points, spark plug wires cap, oil change and carb rebuild, but the carb stills needs to be adjusted, it would make a fun toy, it still needs misc stuff and tlc but overall in good shape, it is a off road toy, i have california title for the jeep, the guy i got it from must of took the vin off the fire wall, but i have the title so it would have to go to dmv and get it figured out to get plates unless you were just going to make it a trail rig, i have a bill of sale from the other guy he never got it switched into his name either, i am firm on the price 503-559-2602”

(05/25/09) This is a great looking M-38. Lots of nice, simple details.
“This one of a kind M38 is a must see. Hours have been spent creating this fun yet functional ride. This is a 1951 Willy’s M38 Flat Fender (Korean War Era) that has been fully restored to street driveable. Engine: V6 Buick 235ci (1977 Olds Starfire). Chrome Edelbrock valve covers,
Suspension: Dana 25 Front , Dana 44 Rear with what I belive are the original leaf springs. Both differential covers have been replaced with chrome covers and the front diff has a powder coated half Spider rock guard (from Purple Cranium). Rancho 5000 shocks have replaced the original shocks. Transmission: 3 Speed T90 with a Dana 18 transfer case. Steering: Saginaw.”
