This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I’m pretty sure I’ve got this one listed elsewhere, but I can’t find it, so just in case. There’s not much of a description.

This looks like a pretty good price for a M-38 that looks to be in great shape.
“1951 Willys M-38 military jeep! Complete with canvas top, axe, tools, etc. This has been stored for 30 years and has an older restoration. This jeep runs and drives!! Owner has had the following maintenance done: new battery, new carb, new gas tank, new fuel pump, new brakes (all parts), new water pump, new fan belts. $6500. This jeep is located in Topeka.”
UPDATE: I’m really surprised this hasn’t sold yet.

Bob Westerman has written a detailed overview of the M-38 pilot models.
From the website, Bob writes: “NEW: 1/1/2009 In the time since this web-page was published some new photos of the Pilot Models have surfaced. The photos reveal that the pilot models were in a constant state of change as different features were implemented and tested. The new information shows that some previous assumptions are no longer valid. See the MVPA’s magazine Army Motors #126 for the latest information.”

It’s a bit rough, but not too bad.
“Authentic 1952 M38 Military Jeep. Has blackout light system, four cylinder flat head (rebuilt), may original parts. Probable Korean war veteran. Jeep has complete drivetrain, minus one yoke for driveshaft (replacement cost $38 at Kaiser Willys). Good rims, frame has surface rust but all is mecahanically sound. Jeep body is somewhat rough but rebuildable. Have grill and front lights as well as dash board with Speedo (not shown in pics). Will need brakes and some miscellaneous parts to run and drive. Was going to restore, but do not have the time. These Jeeps are quickly becoming extinct. This is not a CJ3, it is an authentic M38. Call for more details.”

“1952 Willys military 24 volt military jeep. OD green ready to go………call for details 978 994 5923. New Beechwood canvas seats front and rear. All intact (90%) and a true and very rare USAF Strata Blue jeep from Hanscom AFB with pics to verify serial number. This is currently OD green and has correct NDT tires and spare as well.as 1952 gas can. Top bows present as well..Fording kit there but needs snorkel if you want to drive it underwater. All data plates present and correct and has fire extinguisher and dated first aid kit. Floors were patched but rear floor perfect ……….
Has antnena mounted on left side……..all vacuum working and lights work but rear harness will need updating….front harness new (Peter DeBella) as well as headlights etc. Jeep will cruise along at 45 MPH and is a rare survivor.”

“This is a very fun and interesting Willys The frame is a 1959 Willys CJ3A. The body tub is a good quality reproduction. The engine is the highly desirable Buick 231CID V6 in good running condition with LOTS of power. The transmission is a manual 4 speed. The transfer case is single stick. The front axle is open Knuckle. The steering has been upgraded. Brakes are 11 inch. The gas tank is a big one under the rear floor….”

“TThis is my 1951 Willys M38 military Jeep. The jeep runs great and drives great. It does not smoke, and starts right up anytime. The brakes work great as well. The body is extremely solid for the age of the Jeep. I absolutely hate to sell this Jeep. I had it for sale a while back, and after getting numerous calls I decided not to sell. I am not desperate, so please. No LOWBALLERS. These are getting very hard to find, and if you would like one to restore, or just to enjoy as is, this is the one. If you have questions give me a call or email, and I will respond ASAP. “

“This is a 1952 Willy Jeep 4×4. It runs and has an 8000 lb warn wench on the front and a 4″lift and 35″tires with new rims. It also has a new gas tank and battery and new brakes put in by Big O tires. The lift, brakes and gas tank were all done by Big O tires and I have the receipts”
