This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The seller lists both 1951 and 1952 as the years of this jeep.

This looks more like a M-38 to me, but I can’t tell conclusively.

1952 Jeep CJ3A. This jeep has a 1955 F head engine instead of the original flat head engine. I have lots of extra parts I bought at a military auction many years ago. I have a soft top for it. This Jeep has NO rust and ran great last time I went hunting in it which was 1994. it has been stored inside ever since. Even the interior is good. I put in a new gas tank with non corrosive liner. It needs a battery and most likely will need a carburetor rebuild from sitting so long and will have years of trouble free hunting or whatever. It’s not fast (max 50 mph) but it will climb a tree.”

This might be a good find. I can’t tell what the seller wants for it.
“1951 Willys M38. Real good shape. Came from Arizona. Engine will run just needs tune up. Great little jeep. My daily driver moved on which pushed me to replace it. Looking for a 4X4 or something neat to trade for this Jeep. Would take cash also. The price range for the Jeep varies so make me an offer.”

It looks to me more like a M-38 rather than an MB. However, I don’t see any passenger side cutouts.

I’m pretty sure I’ve got this one listed elsewhere, but I can’t find it, so just in case. There’s not much of a description.

This looks like a pretty good price for a M-38 that looks to be in great shape.
“1951 Willys M-38 military jeep! Complete with canvas top, axe, tools, etc. This has been stored for 30 years and has an older restoration. This jeep runs and drives!! Owner has had the following maintenance done: new battery, new carb, new gas tank, new fuel pump, new brakes (all parts), new water pump, new fan belts. $6500. This jeep is located in Topeka.”

This appears to be a very good price.

Bob Westerman has written a detailed overview of the M-38 pilot models.
From the website, Bob writes: “NEW: 1/1/2009 In the time since this web-page was published some new photos of the Pilot Models have surfaced. The photos reveal that the pilot models were in a constant state of change as different features were implemented and tested. The new information shows that some previous assumptions are no longer valid. See the MVPA’s magazine Army Motors #126 for the latest information.”
