These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

“Here it is! An original, unrestored 1952 Willys M38 Jeep that has been in a heated garage basement since the late 1950’s. My late uncle purchased this Jeep and stored it correctly in a heated basement garage, only 5′ from the furnace that heated the house. Clean title. Engine turns very nice. All fuel lines were blown out and the engine was fogged. I am confident this M38 will run with very little work. Original Mag/Blue Crown plugs…ORIGINAL! Not an easy to find item. Unrestored and complete! Includes, two military generators, spare tires and wheels, ammo/tool/parts boxes, fuel cans, rebuild parts/gaskets etc for the engine and a NOS battery that is still in it’s original box. Lots of patina Original Handbook. Serial # 52870. Model M38. Manufacture date 2/1952. Once in a lifetime opportunity…. $15,000 firm..”

“1951 Navy M38 Jeep. Serial # 36689. Mileage reads 35,201. Powered by the original 4 cylinder gas engine, original 24 volt electrical system. 3 speed manual transmission, 2 speed transfer case with over drive. Comes with radio and all items in photos. The Jeep starts easily, runs and drives good. Tires are dated 1967. Some surface rust but appears to be a very solid body. We have not powered up the radio but were told it works. “S/N 62215. 36,412 miles. Owned since 2005. Windshield is the split type common to the CJ2A. I relocated the spare tire mount to the side, also common to the CJ2A so the tailgate would be more functional. Started the restoration 3 years ago. Stripped it down to the frame, sandblasted, primed and painted it the original olive drab. Everything relative to the brake system is new. Everything relative to both axles was removed, restored or replaced with new parts. New shocks. When I took it off, if it needed replaced I ordered it then, so I have most everything already bought. This is not a rust bucket like most you see! A little rust in the bed and the drivers floorboard is all there is and the metal is solid underneath. Upholstery is in very good shape. I have a summer top not shown. The paint is actually very good. You can see in the pictures that I polished the hood and the color came out. Further painting would be optional. The engine has been disassembled and the head and block tested. Found 4 broke rings. Everything relative to the engine is perfect, even the bearings. Standard rings will go back. Tranny/transfer case have no issues either. I have taken it as far as I can. I need the space in my garage so it has to go. This is a solid Willys and will make someone a fine jeep.”

“For Sale: 1950-1952 Willys M38. This is an authentic M38 military jeep. It has an MC, “Marine Corps” data plate with legible serial number mounted directly to the front of the right rear wheel housing, inside the tub, exactly where it should be.
This was a “radio jeep,” that is to say it was a “commo” vehicle, adapted for use with a mobile radio and transmitter. The only thing left of the radio equipment is the original antenna mount bracket above the spare tire mount and the rear box mounts in the body.
The jeep is complete, original and is a rolling chassis. 4×4, hubs, linkage and shifters actuate as they should. Driveline itself is complete. The drivetrain is original to the frame, as is the body tub, folding Front windshield frame, front fenders and grill. It has had a 12V conversion, and the wiring has been redone to the front headllights. It does have the “blackout” drive light on the left front fender, glove box, dash panel, glove box and body tub hand-holds. It does have the sealed ports on the differentials, blackout lights, MIL Spec light switch and the water-proof ignition. It also has the cut-outs in the hood for the snorkel kit and skid plates are installed.
Frame is in excellent condition, front to back, and HAS NOT been modified. Motor is free spinning with no knocks, and the jeep has been in covered storage for 25+ years.

Condition: Total Restoration Required. Needs everything and will need considerable investment to make roadworthy. There is rust, where they typically rust, but nothing that is not restorable. What you are getting is a complete, original Willys M38 + many spare parts.”
