Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Mike spotted this low mileage Jeep. I wonder if the mileage is accurate? hmmm. It sure looks like it would make a good restoration candidate.

This looks pretty nice based on this one pic. The hood looks unusual with the higher than normal ‘scoop’ in the middle.
“1953 Willys Jeep. White withe black interior. Bikini top. Back seat. Rear gas tank. Rear Locker. 5:38 gears. Chevrolet 305 V8. Lots and lots of power. Runs awesome. will throw in small 2500lb winch (not hooked up but works great). 3 speed T90 tranny. Looks alot like a CJ5 but is actually a M38A1 Military Jeep. Clean Idaho title. ”

This includes a trailer. It looks like a good price. I would think that an accurately restored M-38A1 would have a split windshield?

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2000.
I can’t tell what’s left to do, but it’s got some good components.
“This is a 1954 Willy’s M38A1. It has a Buick V6 bolted to a Turbo 400 that in turn bolts to a Dana 300 transfer case. The V6 has Hedman headers and HEI ignition set up. This Jeep also has a brand new Hurst shifter set up. It sits on BFG 33-12.50/15 all terrain tires, all tires are in good shape. The front bumper is custom and has a built in tow bar, whoever buys it will be able to tow it away. This was a project that has stalled out. I don’t have room for it, nor the time to finish it. There is work that needs to be finished for it to run. This Jeep will make a good rock crawler platform”
This looks pretty good. Those are some great aluminum slot rims.

It looks good from a distance. Not a 1951.
“I restored this 1951 Willys Military Jeep with M100 trailer to original condition. Many new parts; brakes, wheels, shocks, exhaust, glass, canvas, seats, new rebuilt engine, transmission, differential, paint, electrical, lights, fording equipment, etc. The jeep is registered and has a clear title. I won a trophy for the class at a local car show this past fall. I would like to sell the jeep and trailer as one unit for $19,900.”
