Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Andy’s got this Navy jeep for sale.
“For your consideration, an nice 43′ Willys Navy Mb Jeep. Great start for a restoration. Frame and glovebox – Serial # 206293, 1-28-43 DOD. Excellent condition frame, requires only a couple of upper gussets and rear crossmember to be perfect. Never been plowed with.
Has original seats, dashboard, and accessories.
Engine is a later model replacement, but still has most of all the rare acessories on it. Appears to be a Navy jeep as there is grey paint is visible on the oil filter, and oil filler tube. The underhood wind deflector also is grey, as are other areas on the underbody and frame.
Front floors and passenger step need work, but the rest of the body is nice,. Been in indoor storage for the last 30 years.
Three combat wheels are on the jeep.
Axles and transmission have been checked, and the oils are like new”

“I’ve got a 1942/43 willy’s mb jeep. It’s got a 1942 “wilson foundry” gpw engine built in late 1942. These engines are worth at least $1500 on there own. The body number is early 1943. After researching things, alot of jeeps built in 42 were put together with whatever parts they had around. They’re called “salad” jeeps as they just tossed them together. The jeep does not have a title, just a bill of sale which is what it will be sold with. Engine runs great, and clutch, transmission, transfer case and such work good. It needs brake work.(master cylinder and wheel cylinders) to be driveable. It’s a really cool jeep, and a neat piece of history. Wish I had the time and money to complete this project, but I don’t so on to someone who can. E-mail me with any questions. Thanks, Mark”
This appears to be a blend of mostly MB and some CJ-2A.
“This is a running driving 1946 Jeep. Four wheel drive works great. Flathead 4 cylinder. It has new front leaf springs, new coker military tires, new wheel cylinders and hoses, new seat coushions, new fuel pump. It comes with an extra parts engine, transmission, front and rear differentials. Brakes need adjustment, but I drive it the way it is. A great running and driving project.
Clean Florida title in my name.

This photo was at a Pacific History site, though it isn’t clear to me whose site this actually is. The picture was part of a Honolulu Star-Bulletin newspaper and likely was taken in 1946. According to the caption, “Seems someone wrote in and complained that the newspaper photographer’s Jeep looked “like it belonged in a circus,” so when the circus actually came to town, the photographer obliged. Note the chrome wheels, bumper and grill on this surplus GPW, and the fabric-wrapped steering wheel. I’d be willing to bet the body isn’t olive-drab any more. Suggestions? I’m guessing bright blue.”
