UPDATE: Dexter forwarded some pics he received. This is pretty beat up. It was originally listed as a MB, however I think this is a mix of parts. The seller wants $800.
“Selling all or parts. Some of what’s for sale: Dodge Ramcharger, 3 Dodge trucks including ’66 3/4 ton Power Wagon, 4 Broncos, 3 Blazers, Jeep Cherokee, Toyota, Chevy Luv, 2 Isuzu Troopers and ’42 Willy’s Jeep. It runs but is missing the radiator. Many other trucks and parts for sale also. Tool boxes, ladder racks, hitches, doors, fenders, glass. Many junk cars that need to be hauled off if your interested. About 30 travel trailers and motor homes too. Also have ’70 dodge Challenger 340, automatic. Does not run but has straight body and good glass. ’49 Chrysler 2 door hard-top, no dents, or rust, all glass, lenses and chrome is good. Nice resto project (209) 535-8788 after 6pm for more info. Steve.”
This appears to have a later model rear end and windshield. What’s that stick out the rear passenger’s side?
“1941 Willys Quartermasters Jeep. Excellent body and undercarriage. Solid floor pan, no rust, stored indoors. Ran great when parked app. seven years ago. Now needs starter solenoid, water pump, and carb kit. Engine turns freely. Great for the ranch or lease. Have title.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2000
(05/27/2010) There have been a few mods to this, but it might not be a bad price. The rear is missing the original full floating hubs.
“
1944 jeep will 4×4 great project car if you are interested for this fun summer car”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000
(03/28/2010) This has a few updates.
“We aren’t too sure of what exact year it is but we did find out that it could be in between the years of 41-51 body style. The engine we know was taken out of another jeep a little newer then the body. Its an F-head with the valve cover on top so it was taken out of a jeep from the years 53-63. We found that it’s very common for people to switch out the engines from that year because it’s better performance.
The jeep has very little rust and all of it is surface rust that we can find. It doesn’t have a transmission unfortunately or i would be driving it. i have a magazine that sells parts for jeeps and we found a transmission for it and it would only cost about 1500 dollars which isn’t bad for this old of a jeep. I would fix it up myself but i don’t have money and i really need a vehicle. Right now it’s an open title. I want to sell for $3000 OBO”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $4200 and pics added.
“1941 Willys Jeep. Flat head, clean and completly restoreable, I have most all of the original parts even though they are not shown in the pictures. Runs great come see! I will add pictures soon! Please Call (619) 843-8179”
A while back, Tom told me his dad has stories from WWII about flipping Jeeps on their side to work on them. After some digging, he managed to locate this for our viewing pleasure. Many Thanks Tom! See some other tipped jeeps here.
It looks like the driver’s side body has been cut out a bit.
“1942 Willys Jeep MB 4X4; 6 volt system; Mostly original with some replacement parts through the years as needed. Rear body reworked 6 years ago; Soft top has a couple of rips; Has not been started in 2 years but shouldn’t need much to get it running.
Garaged for 30 years; Great for around farm; Questions? Reply to email listed or call Peter at 603-828-8050.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3900
(10/21/2010) Here’s an early Slattie.
“This is a 1942 Willys Slat Grill MB. Its a project I bought years ago and has been sitting in collection mode ever since. Meaning I have been accumulating the parts to restore her. I decided I wasn’t likely to get to this project or my #277 45 CJ so I’m letting them go. The 45 is gone so here goes the Slatty. I’m selling it just as I bought it with the exception of it now has the original slat grill on it as when I bought it someone had put a stamped MB grill on it. Guess they thought it looked better. The serial number of the slat is 112200 and the body tag and frame tag both match. The 3 tags are still on the dash but one has a small piece cut out of it for some unknown reason. The engine SN is MB219002 which I believe is a later motor. I’ve never tried to start it, but the motor turns freely. The transmission is original with the right hand fill and I believe the transfer case is original as well. The transmission and transfer case are stuck in gear as it sat outside for many years before I bought it. I’ve never tried to free them up or look at them. The drive shafts are disconnected so you can move it. I believe the spare tire carrier is correct. It has the “gas” gage and the 30 amp meter. The key switch is still there with the key. The windshield frame is rock solid. The hood has a round hole cut in it. It does have the riveted “slat grill” oil pan. The frame is good. It has one of the 2 hinge tool box lids in place with the lock. The drivers seat is the original split back rail but the pan has been opened up for the larger filler. Take a look at the pictures and if you have any questions just ask. If it doesn’t sell I’m going to spend a few hours on it and see if I can get it running and driving….”
Many readers will remember last May’s explosive expose on the Wally Cohn custom ‘jeep’ built in Germany. Ok, so maybe it wasn’t an explosion heard round the world, but there were a few of us who were interested.
Well, along those lines I found a MB/GPW at Hemmings which had been modified with fenders that brought the Wally Jeep to mind. Here are some pics from the Hemmings Post.
