April 2025 Update

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Welcome to the end of April! Wow that went amazingly fast.

Spring is a great time to renew some interest in long term projects after the cold of winter has begun to shift to warmer days, yet still cold enough to be chilly in the mornings and evenings.

Some really exciting stuff has happened at eWillys over the past month and its still work in progress, so Thank You to everyone for the encouraging comments.

EVENTS

There are so many events this spring to get out and meet other Willys folks, we will be putting them back to the top of the list often, please support one of these events and the great Vendors that help put them on with sponsored give aways, shirts and covering all sorts of hidden costs.

A lot of personal time is put into these events and adventures, if able please support them and get out and enjoy the time together.

It can also be a stressful time for some folks, maybe this is your first time attending an event and you have questions on the best route, is there trailer parking, is it pet friendly…, if you post up any comments we will try our best to make sure there is contact info for you or try to direct you to the correct forum who is running the event.

Typically most events someone we know is tied into one of the many great Forums that support our hobby, so lots of help out there to get you to and from the events as stress free as possible.

This does not give you a free pass to skip some really basic service and safety checks prior to departing on your adventures, be safe out on the roads and take the basic precautions and safety checks so you can enjoy your day.

WEBSITE UPDATES

The site now has a secure SSL version, I recommend you update your bookmarks to the HTTPS version of the site, I will ask about if there is a something further we need to do to force that over. But if you notice the “NON SECURE” notice at the top of the page on your browser you are most likely on the plane vanilla HTTP version.

https://www.ewillys.com

We have fixed the site email!!!!!!!! This is really exciting, I get it some wont get it but having a cPanel goes such a long way to getting things moving along. I don’t know what most of the cPanel stuff is or does and you can break a site fairly easily, but so far I have learned a lot of new stuff along the way.

info@ewillys.com is able to be used to reach out to us and we will be updating the contact us forms.

We are working on cutting over the Ads to a new account so expect some new Ad’s to appear, I think 30 or 40 ads per page should do pretty well, pop ups and all sorts of click things that open even more ads, is going to really up our game. (hopefully everyone gets the Sarcasm), but it will be very similar to how it was working before, but the new version will need some tweaks I’m sure to get them to balance out properly.

There is work going on for some of the older posts related to some folder permissions, so we know about it, you are welcome to let us know, we have all negative comments on auto delete so keep them coming.

EDIT 4/29/25 6:00PM EST: Looks like we got all the photos of the old posts working Dave provided the feedback on the main issue and the Host worked up some steps to fix it, then I took a leap did a back up and made the updates to the SQL where the issue resided. It looks like we got it. Thanks for moving forward with us! It may not even be visible to the user but that one fix is huge on the quality of the preservation of the information, it was a little fix that improves the site that much more with less broken parts.

VENDORS

Any vendors who we had on the site before please reach out to us, send us the webpage and the small photo you want us to use so we can put you back up on the site. There is no charge for this, we know most of you, but please reach out and remind us of what you would like us to link too!

I plan on reaching out to folks when time permits and we have a stable environment to provide the links to people.

Thanks to everyone for supporting eWillys,

Tim

Update to the update…..

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

So we are successfully over to the new hosting company, I think it went OK, there are always bumps in the road and things break and get fixed, its still got some work in progress, timelines shift and are what they are really.

Huge thanks to NetFire’s team and Dave for pushing through this process.

Onward and Upwards! We get it for sure, doing what we can with what we have, it was not an easy process.

TONS of credit to the NetFire team and Dave to keep this alive and kicking and working together to figure it all out.

Was it what we all expected of course not, did it take longer yes, as far as paying for eWillys never in the cards or future, it’s not a dollars and cents deal.

No advertisers pay for anything, so please support all the great Vendors who keep our rigs going, we will get them back up and on the pages some of the stuff has shifted around we are working on it but everyone knows the Vendors are super valuable and need all the support they can get.

Yes some things got lost in the mix and are being worked on, but I know we are doing the right thing and just takes time to get it all figured out.

The backend of the site is really impressive, I know most wont understand what goes into the sights unseen, but the technology and support team is very talented.

Thanks to everyone for hanging in there.

March 2025 Update

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

We really appreciate everyone hanging in there with this transition.

Dave and I spoke today, it was good to catch up and chat.

As mentioned we are still working out the transition and will be back to regular posting real soon.

Spring is here in many parts of the eWillys world. Other spots still are getting some snow, there is always that off chance possibly of a storm here in NJ, but for the most part it won’t hang around that much.

I was able to get the Wagon and Willa Dean out already this year and had a few good drives.

Please remember there are some really cool upcoming events in the Willys world, if you have time to check one out please do and support your favorite Willys vendor or club sponsors.

I have seen some great giveaways from our Willys key vendors and it’s pretty awesome they can do that, it’s all of you who make that possible by supporting them.

Most of all it’s about getting out and meeting people and seeing old friends and making some new ones!

Willys Only Event Wrightwood, CA

Some great Willys only will be getting together on May 10th, 2025.

Good Reminder Be Careful!

Good Reminder Be Careful! Watch for SCAMS!

100% to me this ad was fake, it’ was posted on Craigslist out of Brooklyn, NY but it’s in the incorrect area of the site for Jeeps / Willys and vehicles in general.

The photos and description shared are from a different site where the rig was for sale for double the price

1952 Willys M38A1 – $12,000

1952 Willys M38 Military Jeep. Fully Restored, museum quality, no rust, always garage kept. This Jeep served in Korea. Lots of fun to drive, starts right up. Everything works, Horn, fuel gauge, wipers, lights, all gauges, everything.

Too good to be true it probably is…. it is a nice looking Willys.

A Dave Update

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Hi all, Dave here. Yes, I’m still alive and breathing! Actually, I’m quite rested!

I recently bought a few cool items off eBay, so Tim said I could those items with you. I’ve got a couple brochures and a couple early Kaiser Willys Newspapers to post over the next week or so.

I should also mention that my eye surgery last week was successful, to the point that I now have 20/15 eye sight (an improvement from 20/200). It is SO awesome to be able to see again. Also, I can now see my computer screen now, which had become difficult by early November.  I do have some excess floaters, which I hope will dissipate using a nutritional plan based on this Irish study; I figure there’s little to lose by trying it.

Just after Christmas we sold our breeder cows. By sold, I mean we traded future wrapped pork, plus a summer cow, which worked for both parties. So, I no longer have to deal with the cold and cows. We will still have a two or three summer cows, which means we will get them in the spring and butcher them in the fall.

Finally, I find myself involved with a French documentary crew who is making a documentary about my great great uncle Henry Farny, the western painter. I’ve become a liaison for them here in the US and they’ve asked me to participate, which might have be visiting Wyoming and/or Cincinnati in May, so I might even be able to make it out to the Willys Reunion (we’ll see how things go)! I am also thinking this might help springboard on a trip to Europe, but we’ll see (as they are filming in France and Germany, too).

Ann and I saw this Henry Farny painting in 2011 while it still hung at my great uncle Farny Eilers’ place in Connecticut. Painted in 1911, I’d estimate it was 5’x3′ at least? Sadly, I learned this week, it was auctioned after his death and now resides in Alabama. The frame’s label indicated it was called “The Good Old Times”, though an Alabama article does not mention the name at all.

If you would like to share your Willys with us for a future post please fill out this quick form.

These will not be For Sale post’s, more of a quick highlight of your Willys with some options and info on how you use it.

If there are any questions please let us know.

My eWillys Rig

It’s probably possible to embed this into the site later on and automate the process, I’ve used JotForm for many years and it seems to work out.

Thanks for sharing, all submissions will be reviewed and post times will vary.

eWillys Content and Contributors

• CATEGORIES: News • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Just wanted to share some stuff on the backend, this will be a team effort and you will see some stuff from a few great Willys folks along the way.

Stuff like “Andy’s Picks”, and a few other tricks up our sleeves. Some other Authors are in the works, if they toss up a formal introduction or not, up to them really, but we will have some others helping post stuff. So be on the look out!

I think there is value in most anything but I don’t think we need to post just to post, to fill a certain quota. It may not be all ad’s all the time. The Authors may have some neat information to share or points of view on all things Willys.

Will try to keep the ad links up high in the posts for folks “in the know”, but if I’m learning it for the first time odds are I’m sharing that along the way because there probably is someone else who.csn use that link or knowledge, and maybe I get some comments and we all learn something new.

Vendors

One plan is to reach out to some of the quailty vendors who keep our Willys world working. Mostly to see what’s new or upcoming, maybe you have some special stock of something that might be of interest to others.

Vendor spotlight might be fun to hear a little bit about the history or start up. Probably will have a quick format for that process. No skin in the game here for us, just trying to get some good info out to folks for where parts can be sourced if you would like to talk and share a little at some point keep us in mind. More to come on this idea.

Events

Same for events, it’s great to share a link and that’s super easy, but what makes your event unique, any tips on travel or where to stay for guests from a far. I really like to know about any super tricky roads or access to the event, is there trailer parking for example.

We are able to do something a little more then just the link if your game to share we would love to help spread the word. It’s so much work to put these events on so happy to at a minimum share the link, but can also add some stuff if helpful.

Comments

Posts in general feel free to add a comment or more details if we get it wrong or there is a varying opinion. But please keep it respectful and positive.

Not required at all to comment or like a post. We don’t need to track any of that, but if you do like it or do not, always welcome to let us know so we can get some feedback. This is a non-political site, family oriented,  so posts and comments will always be geared towards that.

If the year is posted for a rig and it’s wrong I typically post the year as per the ad, but will add a comment if it’s a Salad or just not what it is. Sometimes that’s also on purpose to keep all of us on our toes.

Contact Us

Work in progress, while we have a temporary email set up for now, I’m waiting to see if we can fix the site mail in the next few weeks before we post it up, so leave a comment for now and we will get it, if it needs to be off line let us know and we can reach out, you won’t need to share your email in the comment, it comes across the backend.

Thank You!

I really appreciate everyone who has reached out and overall supported me or the site over the years. It’s been a good start and as we get things sorted should be an enjoyable spot to check out from time to time.

Thanks, Tim
