This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. TJ found this nice looking L-161 for sale. Though it is picture with a tranny, tc, and OD, it sounds like only the bell housing goes with the engine.

“Running L-161 flathead engine. I believe it’s from a 1951 Jeepster. It has been reliable, runs well and doesn’t smoke. It’s bolted to a T90 and that bell housing will go with the engine. I will be keeping the starter and alternator, but everything else goes with it. The exhaust manifold has either been modified or repaired at the pipe flange, I can’t tell what the purpose was, but it bolts up to my CJ2a. It’s still in the Jeep and I can show it running. I’ll pull it when I have a buyer. $900 obo or trade for a running L134.”
