Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This is one of the least expensive winches I’ve come across through Craigslist. It looks like dad’s old winch, which never failed us in 15 years of use.
“Old school, would be awesome for restoration on vintage 4×4, this is the winch that later became the famous warn upright 8274. It worked great when removed from 1964 Jeep CJ5 a year ago. $250 or will consider trade for f*re arms, canoe, aluminum boat willys jeep parts etc. ”
Diamond plating is great for covering all kinds of problems. Almost better than duct tape … almost …
“For sale are 3 sheets of diamond plate 1/8 inch thick aluminum. I have two sheets at 2 feet tall and 6 feet long, and one sheet at 2 feet tall and 4 feet long. It was for a project I never got to. Email me name and number. These pieces would go for over $400.00 and can be made into anything with simple metal cutting tools (like a skill saw)!”
A reader named Roy provided this link. Here’s a nicely updated, offset and complete Dana 44. These offset Dana 44’s are becoming less comon.
