Neat truck with some interesting history, but it doesn’t run.
“51 Willys Overland Pickup.
Currently not running
This vehicle was originally used by Truckee, Ca Forest Service as a snow plow truck.
Vehicle has been in California its whole life. I’m the fifth owner last owner got it in 1972”
Andy spotted this box on a truck chassis. It looks salvageable.

“I believe it’s a 1947 Willys Truck, not 100% sure. Just the frame, front & rear axles & the box & tailgate. If interested, make me an offer.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $3500.
This continues to be relisted on Craigslist. One person commented that this seller isn’t responding. I asked my Mica friend about this and he thinks he may know the owner.

A project, but the rust situation appears light (only one pic shown).
“Willy’s jeep truck have title some rust but not terrible turns over needs restored”
UPDATE: This updated post from 2012 now includes photos taken by David Carr at LA County’s Cabrillo Beach. The three photos below are on a wall as part of a “wall-of-fame”.
===============================
From June 28, 2012: Over the past 100 years Los Angeles County has used a variety of vehicles to manage their beaches. As part of a retrospective, the article below shows a few of them, along with welcoming some new hybrids into the County system. All photos belong to LA County’s Life Guard Association.
Here are two GPWs (the pics were from a now defunct blog):
Bathing beauties were still posing on county lifeguard trucks in 1959.
Buz unearthed this CJ-2A Life Guard Jeep used by the city of Los Angeles (vs. the county). Though the caption accompanying the jeep suggests this was war surplus, it’s clear this is a civilian rig. The rear extension is interesting, though doesn’t look neatly done.
This project is an unusual truck.

“RatRod Willy’s truck sitting on 2000 ford chassis with motor and tranny, 2wd locker in rear 5 speed 3.0 motor 126,000. Runs and drives good like it should. Not a show truck it is a RatRod. All factory wiring harness and steering column out of diner truck. Will trade for 4 runner project or older jeep project”
Jim’s got this truck for sale. He used to own a number of jeeps and was an early reader of eWillys. You can contact him at bozwell13 @ hotmail.com or call/text me at 602 435 2110. He says it has the original paint and is very straight.

“Don’t you hate it when you’re at a dealer auction trying to buy trucks for work and you just cant put your arm down to stop bidding on a beautiful old school Willys Jeep pickup? Man, I hate it when that happens…
I’ve owned a lot of Willys in my life, a lot (like 25-30 civilian and military) never had one like this, this truck is special, it was loved. I think this truck is amazing, preserved in an original patin. The previous owner’s wish (and mine) is that it remain like this… just an opinion, but…
A very minimalist ad. Maybe something; most likely nothing.

“47 willies make offer”
Andy spotted this pair of trucks. He noted that the worse of these two trucks was modified by Fairmont into a Hy-Rail. That’s a very rare truck, though it is in poor shape.

“1940s Willys trucks. The mostly complete one is 4×4. No motor. The other has a flathead in it. Sold as a pair. Bill of sale. $2500. Nice project”
Could be worth a look. Body looks straight.

“All original. Super Hurricane motor. 3 speed transmission. Runs and drives. There is some rust on driver rocker but overall in decent shape for its age”
Andy spotted this truck, along with its rear PTO. On the other hand, I blew right by the pics of this truck, missing the PTO altogether. Thank goodness there are more observant people than me reading ads! No description provided.
