Updates Sunday Morning

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

We enjoyed our night of camping at Oregon’s Cottonwood Canyon State Park so much that we are going to spend a second night there. We had the place to ourselves last night. The purposefully primitive camping sites (no power/water/sewer/cell) are spread out, so even if this place was full, it would be pleasant. Here’s one photo. I’ll report more on this Sunday morning.

Gone Camping

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

THURSDAY UPDATE II: Wednesday night we stayed at the Maryhill State Park, which is nestled next to the Columbia River. Unfortunately, it’s also next to a train track; and, across the river from a second train track and I-84; and at the bottom of a long hill down which semi-trucks travel using their air brakes all night. For a pretty spot kind of in the middle of nowhere it was noisy, way too noisy!!

So, we are heading to another campground, this one a primitive place in the middle of Oregon. There are no train tracks, no nearby highways, no power, and no cell service ….

WEDNESDAY NIGHT UPDATE: Good news. We have connectivity at our campground. We’ll be camping for a few days.

Now for a funny story.

We stopped to fill the motorhome with gas this afternoon. Next to the gas station was a McDonalds, so Ann walked over in her baggy camping clothes to get a little food.  As she walked away she laughed and shouted, “I bet these clothes make me look homeless!”

Her knee has been bothering her, so she slowly walked there, just adding to her “look”. On her return trip, she exited McDonalds, again slowly, then paused to let a vehicle leave the drive-thru. At that point, a woman driving slowly past Ann rolled down her window and attempted to give Ann a dollar bill, thinking Ann was homeless. Ann was befuddled. She looked at the woman and shook her head and said, “no thanks.” Puzzled, the woman shrugged, rolled up her window, and drove on….

I think my next book should be titled, Yikes! I Married a Homeless Woman!
