I haven’t seen ads with a “How 4-Wheel Drive Works” section quite like these two ads from 1951 have.

I’m guessing this is a late 1940s or early 1950s postcard.

“1946 Willy’s (green one) and 1950 Willy’s (black one) for sale. $10,000 OBO for the pair. Selling as a package deal, but will consider splitting them up for the right price. **** Both have clean titles, both run! ****
Don’t have the time to further restore them. I have some spare parts for them as well as 2 tool boxes full of all the tools to work on them as well as misc. stuff which will all be included in the package deal. Open to offers ! Serious inquires only please. Don’t waste my time or yours. They are what they are.”
Along with some rust, this CJ-2A has all kinds of mods. I’ve unaware of any factor “cowl cover”; that said, the place I’ve seen these cowl extensions most often is in the northern Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana areas, so maybe there was a dealer(s) in those areas offering custom cowl creations? The hardtop looks to be an aftermarket Koenig half cab.

“Again with a tear in my eye, I am offering my
1949 CJ3A Jeep that I have owned for 52 years.
This was my second Jeep and my family and I
won the most active family trophy in the Phoenix
Jeep Club for several years.
But that was a long time ago, and all good things
must come to an end.
This vehicle has many modifications mostly of the
wrecking yard variety which is the way we used to do
things back in the day.
So here is my fairly honest appraisal.
The Jeep has the V6 Dauntless engine
from a 1966 CJ5.
The engine has a polished aluminum
Ofenhauser manifold with a vintage
Carter AFB 4 barrel carburetor.
I still have the original 2 barrel manifold
and carburetor somewhere.
