Belgian writer George Remi wrote and illustrated the Adventures of Tin Tin, a series of comic strips and books, which have been adapted for radio, television, theatre and movies. The sixteenth series of comic strips is called Destination Moon, which features a great illustration of our heroes in a jeep racing for a rocket. If you do a search for “tin tin” and “jeep” on eBay you’ll run into a variety of toy jeeps for sale. I’ve never read the comic series, so I really know very little about how much the jeep is involved in the series.

Photo of Slat Grilles in an Army Convoy on a Snow Lined Road on eBay
This is a neat old photograph. The first two vehicles are slat grille MBs.
“This is a gloss finish 8″ x 10″ black and white photograph of a WWII Era military convoy traveling on a cleared road between majestic snow covered fir trees. It would be nice to know their destination. Does it look cold! There are no markings on the back of this picture, but it is pristine and very professional. I am selling numerous pictures taken during the WWII era which are of great historical interest and need to be preserved. Many are from Kashmir and other places in the Far East where the previous owner was stationed. The owner was a photographer for the military.”
eCrater.com Auction Site
I ran across an online auction site called eCrater.com. Smaller than eBay, it has some vintage jeep items for sale. In some cases the prices are a little lower than ebay. Part of the reason for the lower prices is that it is free to list items and to use their commerce system. I purchased a brochure off the site and will report if I run into any issues.

1948 CJ-2A Arvada, CO **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1200
It doesn’t run at the moment.
“Bought many years ago and it ran back then. I installed a good battery in it and it cranked over, but wouldn’t fire. Then it quit…..I think I fried the starter or the solenoid (not sure which). The engine isn’t frozen, so it probably won’t take much to get it running again. This was going to be a project car, but lost interest. Take a look at the pictures……what you see is what you get.”
1951 Truck Washington, UT **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
This is a no-reserve auction. Needs a tiny bit of work.
“This rare classic is selling on a “No Reserve Auction”. The high bidder will absolutely win this truck.
Just got this rare truck in. Its a 1951 Overland Willys Jeep Flatbed Pickup. It appears to be in very good condition for the year. I have had a few of these throughout the years and they are getting harder to find and they sell fast.
This one starts right up and Purrs like a Kitten. No Smoke or engine noise and runs cool. It appears to me to be the original motor and it looks like it has been rebuilt or freshened up. It has good power for the size of the motor. The Truck drives very straight and no shakes or shimmies. It has new tires and nice aluminum wheels which greatly adds to the drive-ability. It appears that someone started to restore this and so it needs to be finished up, but the hardest parts of the restoration appear to be done. It would be a fun project and with a little work you could drive while you complete.
This would also be a great advertisement piece for your business, Imagine your company signs along the sideboards of the flatbed.
A couple of other things. It is a bit hard to shift into 2nd gear i’m not sure if its the clutch or what? I have talked to some people about it and they tell me that its my driving and that you have to “double clutch it” when you shift? Maybe you will know more about this than I do, however I wanted to disclose this. It appears that the previous owners have coated the flatbed and the floor boards with some type of coating. It looks nice and appears to be quite durable. I don’t see any major problems with rust, but there is some visible surface rust inside the door panels and on the roof on the inside of the truck (under where the headliner would be). The seat is not original but fits in the cab very well and looks good. I have the door panels that need to be covered and installed (see pictures) I also have some other misc parts that are in the picture that will go with the truck. It is missing the headliner. The headlights and taillights work but you will need to get the wipers working and a few other misc items.”

1953 M-38A1 Galena, IL **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
This is a no reserve auction. It’s not perfect, but appears solid.
“We bought this Willys from the US Forrestry Department and painted it Army green. It runs great and is as solid a Jeep as you will find. When it was painted, there was absolutely NO rust repair. We’ve used it in a couple of parades and has sat in the barn now for five years. My wife says I’ve got to clean out the barn and and get rid of items I don’t use. It was fun to own but needs to go to someone who will appreciate it better.
I’m offering this for sale on ebay only and will not sell it outside the auction. We have a shipping company and can arrange shipping in an enclosed trailer for a fee. E-mail me your zip code for a shipping estimate. The spare tire is the original tire and I bought a new spare tire mount but never installed it. I’ll put a new battery in the Jeep when it sells. Good luck and thank you for viewing my auction.”
1946 CJ-2A Fort Worth, TX **SOLD**

It sounds as if this has been sitting in a barn for quite a few years.
