    Greetings All

The sheet-metal cover above the engine but below the hood hinge, what, how and why?

Marc: It deflects water that might slip down between the cowl and the hood. At least, that’s my guess.

Normally they can be removed. In this case, it almost looks permanent. But, it could just be a photo illusion.

The top is an original Willys Overland type made for the military for the M 38 Jeeps and a non folding style windshield must be used with this top. The top and doors can be removed (lots of bolts holding things together) but the windshield must be changed if a folding one is desired. These tops and doors are made from aluminum and the vertical windshield assembly is steel. Usually a gas fired heater is installed on the driver’s side cowl (just ahead of the windshield) for interior heat during cold weather operations. Popular here in the great white north.
