The last photo with the small data plate inside the glove box:

Besides being this MB’s # why would this be placed inside the glove box door ?
I’ve seen plates attached to the inside of the door (to preserve them especially when new plates are attached to the outside of the door), but never seen it done like that. I couldn’t say why they did that.
The plate in the glove box looks like a DMV assigned # issued by the state when original plates are missing or unreadable. Assigning the jeep a new Identify. Usually, I’ve seen them riveted to the firewall, but I have a WW2 jeep right now with a DMV assigned Number stamped into the cowl that matches the title so likely the same kinda scenario with this jeep.
