Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Ron shared a link to the restoration of his FJ-3A, currently undertaken by Corbetts Auto Restoration and Customs in Cherryville, North Carolina.
The FJ was sold back in October of 2013 (http://www.ewillys.com/2013/10/21/1963-fj-3a-fleet-van-auburn-mi-1200/) and looked like this:

This fire jeep is equipped with a 500 gallon per minute pump and carries 375 feet of fire house. The photo was taken 9/28/1943 at the Willys Overland plant.

Here’s a slate in some cold April weather on the “New British Columbia Highway to Alaska”.

There appears to be a full ACME wire story that accompanies this photo (and others based on the text in the 2nd photo). The photo was taken 06/20/1942. The story (Jeepers Creepers) I think I have somewhere . . .

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $50
Not in perfect condition, but is better priced than others I’ve seen.
“This item is in good vintage condition. Press the handle to make the lighter pop up. Top of the jeep opens to hold cigarettes and the wagon serves as an ashtray.
I have not cleaned it as I don’t want to damage it in any way.
It will need to be fueled up and have a flint installed.”

Up for Bid is a 1946 Willys
I purchased this Jeep a few years back from a local farmer that had it sitting in his shop for years and drove it during local parades. Well I purchased it thinking I would like to complete the restore and keep it for a long time. Well as life goes things get in the way and I need to sell it. I did nothing to it except put a new battery in it and started it and drove it from the storage unit to home about once a year. Starts and runs great, Always Stored inside – Black Canvas top looks brand new.
1. Converted to 12Volt System
2. Excellent condition for the age.

“1954 Willies Jeep Wagon 4 wheel drive. 3 speed automatic on the floor. 350 Chevy engine. Odometer reads approx. 66,000 not sure if this is correct, nice garage find. Brand new 31″ tires, less than 5 miles on them. Some Minor surface rust, chrome intact and beautiful. Can be an everyday driver or a easy restoration project for someone. Can drive it home, a must see to believe. I am sure first to see it will buy it. Don’t let this deal pass you by.”
