What’s with the Fantasy Island pic? Are they trying to associate this Jeep with that show? Maybe that provinance explains the high price?

Can;’t help but notice the name Dezer Collection, used to be located in New York City back in the 90’s. It was a famous rich guy who combined his car collection with a night club. Was the “IN PLACE” for a while. Some movies were filmed there.

Mark- The windshield straps are merely for looks and to further the Surrey image( Remember the song from Oklahoma, the Surrey with the fringe on top? The early horseless carriages in the US had straps to support the windshield also. The windshield will not fold down on the Surrey unless the top is down and there are no hood blocks to keep it from resting on the hood itself.

I sent an email to the Dezer Collection yesterday but haven’t heard back from them as yet. This has a late September build date according to the serial number and would be consistent with the introduction of the Galas and Surreys in September, 1959.

I haven’t seen any TV or media photos of Ricardo Montalban and Herve Villechaize from Fantasy Island where a Surrey was in use. I have seen photos of a modified Plymouth Duster wagon with a surrey type top on it and since Chrysler was a sponsor of that show and Montalban did the commercials for the “Corinthian Leather” equipped Chryslers at the time, I don’t think the DJ3A Surreys would have been used in the show. They would have been over 10 years old by the time the show aired in the mid 70s.
