In the first photo the South African soldiers can be identified by the orange tabs on their shoulders.
I looked around Cassino using google’s satellite view. I couldn’t find the remains of that structure above, but there’s enough space that it is possible no one built over the tank. It looks like Cassino is in a pretty valley.
