Jeep appears to be inside a building, not sure why all that hay or straw is on the floor?

Back when I was in high school,a couple of my teachers went down to Columbus Ohio and got a couple big lathes like these.They set them up in the school shop,and with some work,got them going.They were gov’t. surplus,I guess they cost little or nothing at the time for a public school system.
