Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Clean TX title 1946 (2nd year of the civilian Jeep) willy’so CJ-2A. Run and drives. Has no breaks though…either need blead or master cylinder rebuilt. Tires hold air, fluids are good. Excellent candidate for a deer lease or restore to original condition. The engine was rebuilt a few years back along with the 3sp transmission
The engine and drive train are original.”

“I have a 43 Willys MB Jeep. I have used a lot of the parts off this jeep for another build. It does come with frame, tub, engine, trans, transfer case, axles, steering, wheels and tires, and all you see in the pictures. Frame is solid. The floor in the tub has been replaced by someone using regular sheet steel and not replacement pan parts, but they did a decent job. They cut a tail gate into the back and reinforced it with angle iron. Engine is the 134 L-head. It turns over freely, never did try to start it. Transfer case shifts into gears. Transmission does not want to shift into gears. I would recommend both trans and transfer case be rebuilt do to age. Axles appear to be in working order but look like they could use seals. Has original speedo. Steering components are good. Wheels are good but tires are a bit dry. Comes with matching spare.”

Our neighbor heard about this on her radio station at work here in Pasco, Washington.
Tom Larsen has donated this CJ-2A to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum with the intention of having it raffled off to support the Museum. The raffle takes place on July 23, 2017. Tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100, and will be on sale early 2016 until the date of the drawing on 7/23/2017.

“This is a 1962 Marine variant M38A1. As such, it has the original stock front and rear lift rings, extended rear bumper, front/rear limited slip differentials and late model air cleaner. The entire vehicle was restored as an off-frame restoration with all mechanical and electrical aspects rebuilt. Jeep has 16,500 miles on it and runs as new. It was originally marked as USN in forest green but was restored with USMC markings. Most likely originally a Seabee jeep. Hood number is actual original. Asking $12,500.”
