Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This is the Scheneker (SP) Back Hoe made in Buffalo, NY and offered in the 1954-1955 era. Only a very few exist, I think we’ve documented about 4, including this one previously right here on Dave’s eWillys site. We have one being restored here in Smithfield, Maine which Dave visited, though still not out and about. A great Working Willys Display, but don’t expect much heavy activity. That Willys chassis, even reinforced heavily by Schenecker, did not fare well out in the working environment. The next version by Ottawa on the FC 170 was an improvement, but still not in the class of tractor mounted units which were offered at about the same time.
