Ann says they tilted the camera for this shot. I can’t tell for sure. This photo was featured in the March 1955 issue of the Willys News and shows Vice President Hickman Price descending a steep gradel in a CJ-5.

Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
There are plenty of interesting, unusual, historic and surprising stories related to Jeeps and their owners. In addition, some of these features have nothing to do with jeeps. This link will display all featured stories starting from the latest.
Looking for parts and not sure where to go? There are a variety of large and small new and used parts sellers both online and offline.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

most trees grow straight up…I think your wife is right !!
Indeed they did tilt the camera!
Wild bush growth – I don’t think there’s a tilt.
Trees grow to the sun. If you look at the top of the hill, there are no trees up there. The first tree is behind the CJ5, and you can see it’s tilted at about a 30 degree angle. The camera is clearly tilted somewhat. That doesn’t mean it’s a steep hill, but closer to 50 degrees instead of 75 degrees.
The fact is the little jeep in low, low could have easily made it down this steep decline safely and in somewhat control if camera wasn’t tilted.

I agree with Bob in NC and I live in here in the foothills where trees do grow at these angles. And I’ve lived out in Texas and the washes out there, mostly very loosely compacted sand, don’t support very heavy trees. But the mesquite, as shown here will and at strange angles. Notice the bigger tree to the bottom left in the photo. Notice it is on a more level run of the wash that the jeep is just about to plow into. But, I find the most interesting and funny thing about this photo is the VP’s britches! Man, he’s got those things pulled up to his pecs! He’s locked and loaded for this downhill run. “Alright men let me prep, ugh, ouch, yank OK lets do this” “Uh, can someone help me get in?” Talking about some white knuckles and not needing adult diapers. You sure this isn’t Barney Fife in a lost episode of the Andy Griffith show?
Don’t know if anybody saw it but speaking of Andy, the beaver and Wally we’re on the today show this morning. They looked the same they did 60 years ago.
I too am going with the tilted claim however that doesnt mean it wasnt still steep. Any vehicle would go down this if it was short and no one tried to apply brakes. I dont care it was bare dry rock, Ive never had any tires that would hold the apparent angle of this slope without slipping, low range or not.
