This brochure suggests that a company called Meyers Aircraft developed the hardtop that was eventually sold/taken-over by Sears. It makes sense that an aircraft company would make an aluminum hardtop. So, there may be a few Meyers’ made hardtops mistaken as Sears or Allstate tops.

“This 1949 Willys Jeepster has: 4 Cylinder Engine 3 Speed Manual Transmission Power Brakes Power Steering New Black Carson Top Butternut Yellow Paint The Jeepster was an autombile originally produced by Willys-Overland Motors from 1948 to 1950. It was developed in hopes of filling a gap in the company’s product line, crossing over from their “utilitarian” proto SUVs and trucks to the passenger automobile market. The basic model included numerous deluxe features and interior fittings in addition to a high level of standard equipment that cost extra on other automobiles.”

Carl pointed out that this looks earlier than a 1952. It also has an interesting set of hubs, but I can’t tell what they are.

“Genuine Willys Overland Jeep M38 Army Military issue 1952! (The last year of this breed).
This little Willys M38 has been painted blaze hunter orange but under that it still wears its original army olive drab green! Does not have glass in the windshield frame. Jeep still retains much of its original attire including: seats, wheels, tires, black out lights, fuel tank, tail-gate, bumper, bumperettes, serial plate, and many other small items that usually get stripped after 66 years. Even the US 5 gallon gas can is 1952!
The tub itself is actually in good shape, the only real serious cancer resides under the gas tank as pictured. It’s has a seam split in that area that was created for drainage. Also, a few holes punched out with a screw driver in the storage compartment for drainage.
This sale does include a complete Willys L134 flat-head 4 cylinder engine with just about everything to put it on the road again! Not sure what the actual mileage is, it reads 00000??
I currently do not have the title, the lady I bought it from lost it in her house?? She did give me a photograph of the title.
Over-all this army Jeep is a great candidate for a restoration project! These Jeep’s are legends, they worked hard for the soldiers who fought, bleed and died for freedom…”
