“Early production, according to some JEEP experts, this has early engine block, both good rears, locking hubs, god gauges , has oval pad behind oil filter, and 3 speed standard trans on column, we almost had engine running, we lost spark when rotor fell apart, decent frame, poor tub, and no title, and I cant find any tags on the body or frame, there is a number on the engine. and it was a funky green under the crappy brown that it is now.
No paperwork, repeat no paperwork, I am willing to lick my wounds after a dip in lake stupid for buying this thing at 1500, 1100 is the price.
This Jeep is in Bangor Pennsylvania, yes Bangor Pennsylvania, and its an hour from where I live, so not running around and meeting at 9 pm for a looky loo, if you are interested, I am more than happy to answer questions, and meet to sell it to you, if you can find one for 200 please buy it, or even 300 go for it.
If you don’t like the price you can buy it for 100 at my estate sale when im dead, cause buying crap like this is gonna kill me. No longer collecting cars or projects, not interested in trades of any kind, or crypto currency, or motorcycles, or dune buggys, or tools.”

Willys-Overland Ads In the Saturday Evening Post 1942-mid1946

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: I’ve updated these images with corrections and four additional ads. You can a similar listing of Collier ads in black and white.  I’ve added two ads that only appeared in the CIO-News, one that only appeared in Colliers, and one Sat Evening Post ad that I’d missed.

Original Post (03/01/2019): I tried to find a listing of all the Willys-Overland ads and their issue dates that were published in the Saturday Evening Post during and after WWII. Unable to find any good resource, I spent the last three days surfing through 250 issues of the magazine using the Saturday Evening Post non-profit site, which costs $15 a year to use. Then I organized them in a way that I hoped would make it easier for me to study them. Hopefully, it’s handy for you all, too. For expediency and bandwidth size, I used low-resolution images to create the files below. Eventually, I’ll go back and replace them with hi res images so that everything is clearer when viewed more closely.

The ads started in May of 1942 (at least that’s the earliest I found) and were published on average once a month. All ads published up to November of 1945 were placed on the inside of the back cover.

On November 10, 1945, Willys-Overland formally introduced the CJ-2A to Saturday Evening Post readers with a more centralized, two-page ad. After that, one or two-page ads for the CJ-2A appeared until August of 1946, when the first wagon ad appeared in the magazine.

“Great project Jeep. I can see that it’s a 4 cylinder, but not familiar with old Jeeps, so no idea on engine size. All engine parts and transmission are in place, but take a good look at pictures. Solid body and frame, best I can tell. Floor pans and bed still there, no rust holes. Tailgate fine, no cracks in windshield. The title says the body style is “LL”, but I can’t find any such bird. From my research, it looks like a “DJ-3A”, so that’s how I described it. Sold as is, buyer has to come get it or arrange for shipping.

On Mar-08-19 at 18:44:18 PST, seller added the following information:
After receiving a few good questions about the Jeep, I have a little more information. New pictures of the odometer and ID tag have been added. Best I can tell, the serial number is 56337 11093. The odometer reads 16610.1. It may have rolled over, but this is what it reads now. But you never know, cuz it’s exactly as old as I am, and I’ve rolled over many times! Since it’s been sitting in the same spot for 8-9 years, the tires have settled into the dirt several inches. That said, I looked over the frame best I could, and it looks straight, with no cracks or welds where they don’t belong. Although I have the title in hand, I haven’t located the keys yet. Hopefully I’ll find them by the time one of yall show up to pick it up. Good luck, and thanks!”
