    Don’t the 1946s have the indent on the tub below the driver’s door for pioneer tools? Just trying to learn…

    It’s a good question.
    From Aug 1945 through early 1946 Willys used driver side panels with indents. It seems to me Sean wrote that the indents were consistent between VINs#10001 and #23xxx and then mostly there until approx VIN #30xxx. This is one of the attributes that identifies a CJ-2A as a VEC (Very Early Civilian) jeep, a designation bestowed by jeep fans (rather than Willys) to categorize the early jeeps. Those VINs are approx as I don’t have time to look them up at the moment.
