Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This July 30, 1961, article shared the news that the Las Cruces Jeep Club planned to allow non-racers a chance to drive the ‘Jeepathon’ race track before the racers got a chance to race. The photos show Carol McDonald checking the jeep and the track. I wish the photos were clearer. I’m guessing she was a Las Cruces Jeep Club member?
I thought this a neat looking ad. I haven’t seen one quite like this done domestically.

“This Willy’s CJ-2A was sold new on April 5th 1949 by West Motor Company, Steubenville, Ohio to the Wheeling Steel Corporation plant also in Steubenville. It was put to use by inside the plant and was outfitted by Howe with a hose reel. Its second life was with the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. They removed the reel and installed an 80-gallon water tank and was used as a brush truck. The third owner acquired it in 2005 and treated this Willys to a restoration. The tank was removed and restored to how you see it photographed, back to an inside plant, pumper Fire Truck. Lot’s of era correct parts we sourced and now this Willys is loaded from bumper to bumper with firefighting equipment. “Next Day Fire Department” is sure to be a hit anywhere it is driven or displayed.”

Has some light rust, but appears solid.

Full metal hard top with full metal doors and hinges. Glass roll up windows in doors and glass windows in hard top
Some rust, some tweaks, small dents and bends. Mostly decent condition.
$1500. firm. See photos. Might consider partial trades. (Dual sport motorcycles or street legal dirt bikes, 4 strokes or modern 2 strokes…. boats? Firearms? Cj5 short cab top? Vehicles?)”

“1966 jeep CJ 6 put new brake lights and headlights, turn signals, new fuel pump, new seatbelts, put a custom plate on driver-side in floor, brand new carburetor. Starts first try drives very smooth and runs great. I have a 4 inch lift and whole new wiring harness coming to. asking 3500 obo”
