   My oil pickup screen was badly clogged too. When I dropped the oil pan and found an inch or so of black petroleum pudding on the bottom it motivated me to take off the oil pickup and open it up. You don’t have to remove the engine to check these 2 things out.

   hahaha — those willys floating oil pickup units always reminded me of an old toilet ball cock assembly — remember when we used to shim willys oil pumps with a nickel ?
