    Judging from the plastic gas tank strapped to the bumper and the floor board rust, the original fuel tank is probably rusted out. M38A1’s tanks tend to rust out from all the crap stuck between the floor and the tank bottom.

    Amen to thst.
    My very good body A1 was virtually rust free when purchasef. Upon removing the fuel tank we found Swiss Cheese…very thin cheese at that.
    Luckily, it just needed a new tank well.

    Since I was with the organization for 30 years, the fact that it has “DISASTER SERVICES’ on it means it was an American Red Cross vehicle. In Boston we had an old CJ5 that was similar back in the early 70’s. We also had the CD tag on it since the ARC was affiliated with Civil Defense.
