Can’t be too many of these around? This one is located in France. I suspect this is newer than 1960.

There’s another version of the 1960 Nassau Surrey for sale on Amazon and mentioned on the CJ-3B Page (scroll down to Newer Toys).

“Très beau modèle en porcelaine, en 3 dimensions, à l’échelle 1/200 environ (24 mm de long, 11 mm de large et 14 mm de hauteur)”

“Up for sale is a fairly rare 1966 Jeep J-200 “Gladiator” 4×4 truck with the optional Custom Cab trim package. This features the good-looking chrome front grill, aluminum front end trim, chrome front bumper, fancy stainless steel trim on the rear of the cab, Custom Cab emblems, and more.

Powered by the venerable 230 cubic inch Tornado inline overhead cam six-cylinder engine, she runs very well. I replaced the water pump (was squeaky and was ready for replacement), rebuilt the hydraulic clutch including going through the master cylinder, and replacing the slave cylinder), changed fluids, and properly set up the timing and carburetor. A nice-running truck with a lot of life left in her; showing 30,175 on the odometer, but likely rolled over once.. who can say? No exhaust smoke or bad engine noises at all. She’s got the three-speed manual “three on the tree” transmission, and optional power steering, which is a big plus. 4×4 transfer case gets her in and out of all wheel drive properly, and she comes with some spare parts including a set of Warn locking front hubs. Good brakes combined with all the above make her a sound driving truck.

“My loss is your gain! It needs transmission work. The shop says a rebuild would be about $600 (if I R & R). I don’t feel like it right now. I’d rather move on with my next project. It’s $1000 firm (if I can’t get that, I’ll do the tranny and sell for $2000+. You pick up (tow or trailer).

I bought this three years ago with the intent to try it out this summer as a “retirement job” but family circumstances and increased hours at my other job have cancelled that plan. I owned it just long enough to make a lot of little fixes (lube, oil, added a radio & antenna, shocks, flashing yellow light, wiper blades, installed a window washer, fixed the horn, replaced exhaust manifold gasket, new ignition switch, plugs and wires, air filter, fuel filter, tranny filter & fluid, pcv, rebuilt carb., new fan belt, coolant flush and fill with new thermostat, – and probably a couple of other things I can’t remember right now….

Thursday night I came down with a light cold (or something), so I took it easy yesterday. By the evening I felt good enough to join Ann and her uncle Fred for a visit Alamogordo’s art fair. Fred is president of Otero County’s STEM program. He and his wife are also deeply involved in First Robotics and judge robotic competitions all over the country. As leader of Otero Stem, Fred organized a demonstration at the local art fair. It gave the kids a chance to show off the their robots to the public, while Fred and the other leaders introduced STEM to many parents who attended the fair.

Fred’s always in trouble with the police 🙂

There are as many girls as boys involved in the Otero program. Both Fred and Cindy are Mechanical Engineers and worked for Boeing. So, they believe in Engineering as a career.

While we were at the fair, Smokey Bear stopped by for a visit. Why would Smoke Bear be attending the event? Smokey is/was a local bear, but I’ll save that for a later update.
