Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (04/02/2013) It clearly isn’t stock, but seems solid. Check out the diamond plating under the dash; that’s unusual.
“1948 Willys Jeep CJ2A
Great Condition, I bought From the Original Owner with complete history since new, only has about 30K actual miles ( motor was replaced with a GM overhead cam 4 cylinder in 1980 that runs excellent ).
The Willys is Rust Free and has never had any rust repair to the floor pans and the frame is also rust free. The Willys has always has been garage kept for the past 50 plus years.
New wheels, tires, seats and paint… and is titled with a antique tag and is Road Legal, I drive it every day!!!

(04/04/2013) The bed has been diamond plated.
“’46 Willys Jeep, stock engine has been rebuilt, rebuilt tranny and transfer, good tires. Converted to 12volt, and electric fuel pump, tow hitch kit on front with jack, receiver hitch in rear. Some rust…bed has been covered with aluminum diamond plate. Runs and shifts great!!!”

“Good running jeep, original pto winch, 4cylinder, 3speed, locking hubs, 4×4 works good, nice sonding stereo, good tires, steel hard top and doors. This jeep has been refurbished. The column shift and grille have been changed. Unclear if it still has the tool indents.
“Full frame up restoration using 2 donors and a New-old-stock parts source.
Original engine, etc. A few things are new (grill, wheels), as I haven’t found the original parts yet. Also, converted to a floor shifter, because the column shifters were horrible.
Less than 5k miles since restoration. Works as a daily driver, or take care of the rest of the cosmetic stuff and have a show car.

While the body looks rough, this jeep appears to have a rare set of Free-Lock Hubs (so easy a child can engage them).

“1948 Willys CJ2A flatfender classic, rebuilt 4-cylinder, rebuild 3-speed transmission, rebuilt transfer case, rebuilt overdrive (meaning it will cruise at 55 mph!), rebuilt brakes and axles, period-correct tan paint with grey seats and factory orange wheels, new NDT tires, all-new wiring, every gauge works, new glass, new gas tank, no issues. $6900.00. This Jeep was rebuilt by my son, with help from 4 Wheelers Supply, Hopper’s Automotive, Stoney Mountain Jeep and Chandler Auto-Truck Electric. We have all receipts. Only selling because my son is in South America for two years. ”

It’s rough.
“I have clear clear missouri title in my name in my hand. This willeys has the original drive tran less the engine and trans. It was replaced with a small block chevy and a 4 speed. The engine does not run and you can asume it is locked up and will need to be replaced. I gave up on this jeep many years ago, but today found the Title, so let’s see if anyone would like to get this back on the roads. All the sheet metel is there except the tailgate. The frame has been modified becouse of rust in the front section.”

(01/28/2013) This appears to have a mix of parts.
“WWII Jeep Willy M-38 jeep for sale. Title says 1941 as the age, but may be older. I have 2 motors for it! Motor removed for rebuilding. It is a l-head. I also have an f-head . Several other jeep parts for sale- too many to list. Getting out of the jeep rebuild idea! Call for a list of parts. Will sell parts separately or everything for $3400 OBO”

Ted sent me a picture of his friend Jim’s jeeps. If anyone knows of a Mahl front loader, Jim would like to buy one.
Here’s the short list on all its options:
Koenig twin stick PTO
Ramsey front winch
K+K side mount sicle bar
Three point hitch with Newgen Buzz Saw
extremely rare Canfield fold out wrecker assembly
Westinghouse PT1 compressor under the hood
Dual wheel adapters front and rear
Ge welder which came from a parts jeep that had paperwork showing the factory option welder cost more than the actual cost of jeep itself back in 1946.
Every thing works as it should with the exception of the welder ,which actually has been tested out and works great but is not hooked up because with all the work done to this jeep in the restoration Jim could not bring himself to cut out the tool box section to install welder.
Canfield wrecker has been converted to armstrong type ,to make room on mid PTO pulley for KandK bar.
About all we figure the Willys needs now to complete the swiss army effect is a Mahl front end loader if anyone has one for sale.
