Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This might clean up pretty well, but you’ll need another engine.
“A nice piece of Jeep history. The first Jeep to be sold to the public after WWII.
Very original flat fender 4×4 jeep, Clean title. Needs a replacement L 134 (go devil) engine block. The Body is in very good shape, all rust has been replaced with new metal. Restored in late 80s. Good seats, No top. Break system is good. Would make a great weekend driver or trail rig.”

(06/17/2009) If you can easily fix the wiring, then this could be a very good price. There’s some good value in the parts. I’m not sure what’s on the hood.
“1946 Jeep Willys CJ2A
1996 Fuel injected chevy 4.3 V6 mated to a SM420 4 speed transmission (the one with the huge granny gear) and a Dana 20 T-case. Newish (less that 3K miles) 35” BFG Krawlers. Front and rear axles are Dana 44’s with 4.56 gears and detroit lockers. Front is disc and rear is drum. Fully hydro steering with doubled ended, dual action cylinder. Early bronco coil suspension adapted over in the front with leaf sprung rear.
Now the bad….Squirrels got into the engine compartment and ate through the Painless wiring harness. They pretty much chewed through the main trunk that goes back to the computer. Not impossible to fix but I don’t have the time nor the inclination.”

I like this one. If it were closer ….. This appears to be an old club jeep with the rare windshield mod and some great old slot rims. It also has an updated column, probably power steering, and likely swing pedals. This might make a good foundation for an old school build.
