Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (03/20/2017) Has a few updates.
“Refurbished classic CJ. Engine rebuilt, cylinders sleeved, and assembled with balanced parts at 10 over. Steering conversion and shackle reversal done by Stage West. Transmission & transfer case rebuilt by National Transmission. 11X2 brake conversion, 4″ Rancho lift, Jacobs electronic ignition, and Advance Adapters chain clutch control. Meyer hardtop and bikini for the summer. Recored radiator, restitched upholstery ( marine grade vinyl ) Durabak truck bed liner in cab, engine bay, and undercarriage. Vintage Warn 8270 winch, alternator conversion and Optima battery. And much more.
All this work was completed in 1999 with 43,000 on the odometer. It now has 51,413. I just don’t drive it enough to keep it. I haven’t driven it in months so the brake cylinders will need attention. Spare transmission and transfer case included at the asking price”

Maury spotted this clean looking CJ-5.
“1969 KAISER JEEP CJ-5 RARE 289V6 with ORIGINAL SPRING GREEN PAINT (TRUE SURVIVOR). Up for sale is our ’69 Kaiser Jeep with the RARE 289 V6 in original Spring Green paint. Mostly a garage queen its entire life, this Jeep has it’s original coat of paint, which shows extremely well. Has had all new gas shocks installed as well as new battery, rebuilt carb, (comes with a brand new carb as well), and many more maintenance items completed recently. Runs and drives great, does not leak oil and has little to no rust on the body. 4WD functions perfectly. Very well preserved example. Has original miles as well. Inspections welcome. All serious inquiries will be considered.”
It’s a plow jeep at this point.
“I have a ’63 CJ5 with a plow for sale or trade.
Has the 134 2.2L Hurricane engine mated to the T90 3 speed manual with the Dana Spicer model 18 transfer case.
Comes with a working plow.
Body’s not in terrible shape, previous owner did some work to it. Floor pans are riveted in, not professional quality but do the job.
New battery on 3/20/2017. Brand new carburetor put on it a few months ago along with a fuel tank installed.
Definitely needs work, not a daily driver by any means.
Needs brakes, Emergency brake works well. Headlights work, along with plow lights.
Was running well, but been having problems starting it. Going to change plugs and fluids and work from there.
Would really like to put more work into the jeep, but really don’t have the knowledge or the finances to do so.
Looking to see what’s out there for trades or make me an offer. Looking for a cargo trailer. Maybe take a bike or 3 wheeler. Just ask.”

If you like green ….. The front bumper setup is a little unusual. I think the plate is for a winch, but it isn’t clear to me how a winch would fit behind the plate??
“I have a 1966 jeep cj5. Has new tires, brakes, brake lines, new gas tank and gas line. I painted the jeep with bedliner. It has been some what restored but is not perfect. It runs and drives however the carb leaks gas sometimes and I cannot track down the leak. A new carb would fix that issue. I would consider trading for another jeep or a boat of equal value. “I have a 1962 willys cj5 jeep that I’ve been working on for about a year fixing up to make road ready and I just lost interest. This is a fun jeep to drive it has a full fiberglass kit on it matched with the 4cyl motor it gets up and goes. Motor runs good Trans and 4wd shift well it has a new clutch,carb,exhaust,fuel tank and lines,wiring,lights,brakes,and lines and I’m sure I’m forgetting stuff. As far as what it needs to make road legal again is a windshield glass and a few odds and ends put back on. I have a soft top for it that I never installed yet it is used. I am asking $2500 please email me with any questions or if u would like to make a appointment to come test drive thanks. ”
