Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This is one of the cheaper FC’s I’ve seen — It’s a project.
“No title, needs lots of work. No transmission or transfercase. Engine does not run. These are rare. Will trade for guns, gas station items or other interesting items.”
This started out at $3500, but the price has dropped to $2500. There’s definitately some rust on this one.
“Early 60’s foreward control Jeep.Been in a barn for 5 years. Got it started and drove it around. Engine is great, trans and transfer work ok. Brakes need bled but work. Driver and passenger floorboards need repair, but usable.Rear cab corners rusted but small enough to repair with fibreglass i think. Beds rusty and there is surface rust.Great ranch vehicles with very little wwork. Last one I saw for sale on e bay that was similar to this they were asking $3500 and it didn’t run. That’s a great looking FC-170.
“Take a good look at the pics !! I encourage any serious buyer to come and inspect in Person ! This is a very solid FC 170 it has some rust,but nothing compared to what most of these look like at this age. Cab is very sold as is the frame. There is a alum.plate patch under the carpet on the drivers side. Pass. side is solid with some pin holes. Battery box compartment very solid. Under carriage and frame very solid with just minor surface rust. All doors open and close very straight,they do not drop on there hinges.”
I've got a friend in California that has an old firetruck he would drive to work every so often. I always thought that would be fun, but I think this firetruck would be even cooler.
"1959 Willys Jeep FC170 Forward Control fire truck. Runs good – may need some brake maintenance. 7,200 actual miles. Manual Transmission. ALL ORIGINAL! This vehicle has not been stripped. It is 100% original – even the windshield wipers! Includes Fire Extinguishers and fire blanket canister (with original fire blanket inside). Even the lights and siren are working! The headliner is begining to come down and the interior needs some work. There are no dents on the exterior.The vehicle has only been driven in local parades for the past several years."

This FC looks like a great project for someone.
"This is an original FC 150 (Forward Control). This is mostly complete and restorable. Original motor turns over but has very low compression in two cylinders. Includes a Manual and sales brochure. Great little off road/hunting vehicle. Wierd at first to drive because you are sitting on the front wheels. Frame/chasis is the standard 1952 jeep. I started this as a project but am unable to complete. Easy to work on. I have a car trailer and can deliver if you cover the gas. Dewey 253-670-1046 pr dewey@windermere.com"

I bought this recently as a project but have found that I have too many home projects to work on it. I bought it from Schaffers Towing in Cd’A. They got it to fire up for a moment and when I brought it home I put a little gas down the carburator and got it to fire momentarily. It turns over nicely now but doesn’t seem to be getting spark…???
The brakes are disconnected and the fuel tank is there but the fuel line runnung up to it is disconnected.
I was told that the motor in it is called a “Hurricane Four” and it has a “Spicer” gear box.
It has some rust and is missing the bed. I have seen some of these with flatbeds.

” 1963 FC 170 Jeep. Classic Jeep / needs a home. 1963 Forward Control 170 Jeep vin: # 6156813208 motor turns over but has not been started for a long time. Stored In a barn since 1982. 12 ft. bed / made for hauling fruit box, side rails are 18″ high and hinge down. Some rust on the doors and windows dash is stock and the whole truck is complete. Tires are bad, the rear duels are a factory option and can be singles. $800 or make an offer / possible partial trade for clean economy sedan or ? Trade for a nice CJ7 Hard Top.”

The term ‘rare’ accompanies a variety of FC-150/170s.
“This extremely rare 1963 Jeep Willys FC-170 4X4 is both a stake bed pick up and a hydraulic dump bed. The trucks prior owner was into these vehicles in a big way and kept his eyes open for the right FC to purchase for over 15 years. He acquired this truck from the original owner and had it for another 15 years until illness forced the sale. The prior owner advertised this as “Very Complete & Original all the way down to the Windshield Washer Bag that hangs on the dashboard.”
