This jeep was reconditioned by Bechtel in Oakland, California.
“1942 Ford GPW Jeep. Original “Ford script” body. Reconditioned/rebuilt on April 26, 1945 in Oakland, California. Older restoration. Prior owner was entering it in parades. Original seats. 50 caliber machine gun and gun mount. Rear seat. Canvas top. Willys engine has good (130psi to 135psi) compression and starts well, but needs new head gasket. Has been mostly stored over the last few years and needs a full tuneup. Ford script tires. Clear California title.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5500. Andy pointed out that this one had an Esslingen rebuild tag:
ORIGINAL POST:
“Original 1944 Ford Gpw willys jeep. Needs restore. Has a WWII 1942 Gpw engine. The frame is a 1944 Gpw. parked since 1992 non op. Still has oil and water in the jeep. Had a blown head gasket when parked. Motor turns over by hand easily.”
It’s got rear floaters. It just might have an MB/GPW chassis. Looks to have a replacement body.
“Too many projects too little time. Include second grill, and set of fenders. I believe the owner before me started restoring and didn’t get far. From what I can tell new front and rear axles. I have signed not transferred title in hand. It’s at my business but is personally for sale. Obviously some rust but most are just light surface, to my knowledge the pan is in good shape.
There is a 4 cylinder engine under the hood – but not running.’
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $13,900.
Could use some more photo from additional angles.
“This is a 1944 GPW Ford made WW2 Jeep with clean title. I fully rebuilt this jeep in 2012 with a frame off restoration.
The engine, clutch and transmission have been professionally rebuilt. 4×4 works perfectly. I have over 400 documented hours into the restoration, and I’ve spent 1/3 more than the asking price. its had over 1200 trouble free miles since its restoration.
This restoration uses the original tub, frame, parts and sheet metal. Reproduction parts have been kept to a minimum but include hat channels and a little sheet metal. It has all of the original Ford WW2 engine and drivetrain, axles, driveshafts, etc.
The good: runs and drives great, new Vintage Wiring of Maine correct looking wiring harness, new brakes and master cylinder, and new tires. It has reproduction data plates. Has reproduction WW2 combat wheels including spare. Has a WW2 fuel can and water bag, included.

The seller guessed that this a Willys MA, but he was quickly educated by some folks on Facebook.
“This one is pretty much original and completely untouched. You will never find this Jeep again!
