Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I think that’s the exhaust out the rear? It could get caught on something.
“I’m selling my 1951 Willy’s M-38. I bought it 19 years ago from a farmer just south of where we live. Had the engine rebuilt, new tires, rebuilt generator, cleaned the radiator, new back seat, plugs some wiring. We’ve driven it off and on for the last 5 years, has 1,693 miles on the rebuilt engine and tires. Two years ago put a new Japanese carburetor on it and it has never run right. Needs a carburetor. Still has original manufactures plates with MFS Ser. Nu. 26031 Must make an appointment if you want to look at the Jeep.”

It appears to be a CJ-2A w/ an M-38 Body.
“Project flat fender. M38 military tub, upgraded F head 134, t90, Dana 18. Rear 44. Rare front bench seat. Will not take much to make a runner. Rear body crossmember needs to be recreated. Not pictured is roll bar I have for it. This is a project. Clean title. Text is best with my schedule. If you must call leave a message.”

“For Sale, 2 M38s and 1 CJ2A, 1 M38 with weak engine, another M38 with froze up engine and no tub, and 1 CJ2A with good engine and no tub, lots of other parts, price negotiable, will answer serious questions. Want to sell ALL Willys jeeps and parts I have to one person who is a Willys collector. Will negotiate price to someone who wants ALL I have.”

“Up for sale is a 1951 Willys Jeep. This jeep is very rare, with a windshield made for a canon barrel. Three speed on the column with original shifter handle and seat . No rust . New aluminum radiator, Hoses, plug wires. Ready for restoration.”

The M-38 looks solid, but that top sure could use some tightening.
“I have a beautiful 1952 willys m38 for sale. This vehicle is ready to drive! It runs and stops beautifully. Its been owned and preserved by a collector since 1969. The vehicle has very little rust. This is one of the nicest m38 I have run across. The body, steps, hat channels , and floors are almost completely rust free just surface. The passenger underseat tool box is rust free(even has the original jack and tire iron). The motor is clean and runs great! It still has the original carb as well as battery box(always missing). Its 24volt and looks to have all original style wiring harness in great shape. The interior has the matching data tags, gauges, switches etc. Lights work. The canvas seats and top looks to be original and are in great shape. The doors, and side curtains can be removed. Very rare to find a Jeep preserved and as complete as this one. It looks like it’s been frozen in time. Haven’t even washed it yet! The 4 wheel drive works great and the transmission shifts smoothly and is tight. The one thing it could use is bushings in the steering box as it is squeaky 15 parts or just a greasing. Clean and clear matching title!”
