1964 M-38A1 Whitehouse, Oh eBay

This looks nice at first glance, but the gauges aren’t hooked up and the body is fiberglass.

“Older frame up restore but still in top condition. Runs perfect, drives perfect, always garage kept. You wouldn’t know your driving a 48 year old vehicle. Drives straight down the road. Does 62 MPH. Been to many shows. Always starts right up. Has silicone brake fluid (dot 5) so you will never have moisture in your brake system. Lined gas tank so you will never have a problem with that. Engine has less than 5000 miles on it since rebuild. Front oil seal will leak if it isn’t driven for a few months. Engine, trans., transfer case, and title are from 1964 jeep cj. Has lock out hubs on front axle. 4×4 works like it should. Using 12 volt system, gages are 24 volt so they are not hooked up. Have a mech. oil press. gage under the hood just to be safe. Original speedometer quit working at 35,000 miles so I put this one in and it quit working 200 miles later it reads 18,000 miles. Tub was replaced with fiberglass tub. Rear view mirror is cloudy so I have a clip on mirror over it in the photos. Top looks like it was rarely used it’s in great condition also and is simple to put on. Undercariage looks great. Tires are like new. Clutch works smooth. Trans. shifter feels solid. Gets compliments everywhere I go.”

Year? M-38A1 Dallas, TX **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: M-38A1 • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

This was used by a rural fire department.

“Up for auction is a very nice Willys M38A1 military Jeep. This is an excellent restoration prospect! I have had this one for a number of years and do not have the time to restore it, so I have put it on the market for an immediate sale. It is the second generation version without the hinged grill. It was used by a rural fire department, as you can see by the lettering. You can also see the remains of the original U.S. Army lettering, along with the hood number. There was no id plate with the other data plates, although all of the others are present. This is a true “barn find”, an although I have owned it for several years, it is still in its original condition that it was when I got it. It is unmolested and still has all of the 24 volt gear in place. The fire department did cut out the back panel, which can be easily found and replaced. It is so well done that it almost appears to be a M38A1C, but of course, does not have the correct windshield for that configuration. I am amazed at the solid floors, hat channels, etc. They are all in excellent condition. Take a close look at all of the pictures. This could be a candidate for a museum quality restoration! The two original front seat frames are present and in good condition. The original gas tank and its plumbing is there, but I have not attempted to use it. A very nice set of top bows comes with this Jeep. Nice original military wheels and Cooper military tires. The engine turns by hand, but again, I have not tried to start it. I would bet that it will start right up with a new set of batteries, fresh fuel supply.”

1954 M-38A1 Bothell, Wa Status Unknown

UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was listed at $1000

There looks like value here.

“1954 Willys Jeep M38A1. I have a 1954 project, or parts Jeep for sale. I bought this back in the summer with intentions of simply getting running and use as-is… It was a project when I purchased it, meaning one of the previous owners started to put a “rebuilt” crate engine into it (needs to all be re-done). After a short while of getting into it, Corosealing some of the heavily rusted spots and making a parts list of what I’d need to get it going. I’ve decided without an adequate donor vehicle, this one isn’t worth my time. Besides, I’m putting the house on the market, and this has to vacate my driveway.

On the plus side, this ol’ girl does have a fresh Washington State title in my name.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

This looks nice enough, but if you look at the pic under the driver’s side it has a piece of channel welded to a body mount. That seemed odd to me.

“Wow its very hard to call any Military truck a NUMBER ONE,but this stunning 1954 Willys M38A1 is pretty close, they never even left the factory like this! You could eat your dinner off of her and with a RUST FREE body and 11,366 miles from new she is very rare too! So in the spirit of a real auction she is for sale at NO RESERVE! But because quality always makes good money, she will not go cheap, but you will love showing her! Find another show worthy 1954 M38A1 that will actually get a new owner at the end of auction!!!! BID NOW! Its your only chance!”

This looks in good shape.

“This is a 95% restored 1953 M38-A1. It cranks, runs, and drives like a new one. The body is perfect. All it needs to be 100% is new canvas seat cushions, top, and top bows. Come and drive it and you’ll be hooked. For a nearly 60 year old vehicle, it is amazing. I am asking $7500.00 or interesting trade”
