The Jeep is a Working Girl Newspaper Ad

This Milwaukee Sentinel ad from May 25, 1947, filled an entire page. Part of the ‘Jeep is a Working Girl’ ad campaign Willys Overland published different versions of the ad in magazines as well. This ad also promoted a 1947 Jeep Caravan tour that included demonstrations of eleven pieces of equipment.

Kool Cigarette’s War Stamps Sign

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Bantam-FordGP-WillysMA-EarlyJPs, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay

A poster of a penguin driving a Bantam BRC-60 sponsored by Kool Cigarettes. It is 20″ wide by 30″ tall.

“Up for sale is this Super Rare estate fresh WWII era Kool Cigarettes advertising sign / poster featuring Kool’s Willie the Penguin in WWII attire driving a military jeep with a Kool Cigarette Machine Gun on the hood and shells exploding in the background. The poster reads ‘KOOLS The Pack To Take Wherever You Go!’ The bottom of the poster reads ‘Save B&W Coupons for US War Stamps’. The poster measures 30 inches tall by 20 inches wide. The poster is in good condition for its age and has great color although there is a good deal of wear and creases around the edges and holes where the poster had been hung (Please See Photos). These issues don’t take away from this great WWII advertising image and this would make a great addition to any WWII, Advertising, or Tobacco collection.”

‘Lola’ Tackles the Borders of Texas

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Features, Old Images, Old News Articles • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This article from the June 1955 issue of Willys News shares the brief story of Frank Tolbert’s 5,000 mile trip around the state of Texas. Accompanying Frank were Frank, Jr., and a CJ-5 then named Lola.

I have found a series of articles published over successive weeks in the Dallas Morning News about their trip. However, I have to sign up and pay a fee to use it. Anyone have free access? I would like to see what the article say before having to buy anything.
