Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I just finished restoring this jeep from the ground up as you can see from the pictures. Most every new part came from ” Kaiser Willys jeep” part house.I have all receipts. Everything either new or rebuilt. Frame has been sandblasted, primed and painted. The body was redone and the underside was undercoated with bedliner to protect it from the weather.All new brakes, excluding the master cyl. brake lines, wheel cyls, shoes and e energy brake too. The engine is from a 1953 Willys Truck, F- Head, 134. Runs great ,doesn’t use any oil. Holds good oil pressure. Has new Holly Carburator,fuel punp, water pump,clutch, preasureplate and throw out bearing. New radiator. The 3 speed trany and transfer have been professionally rebuilt and so has the front 4 wheel drive axle. New stock exhaust .New 12volt wiring. Has a rebuilt heater. New chrome wheels . rear tires are new, fronts are in good condition. The windshield is from a 1950 CJ3a for better viewing with new glass and rubber.The milage is not correct since the speedometer is a aftermarket one that I already had.I have driven it about 50 miles since I completed it. Everything seem to be working good. I have tried to fair and explane everything I can about the jeep.”

“Up for sale is a 1946 flat fender Jeep CJ2A Project. Good body, rebuilt Dana transfer case (spicer 18) that has not yet been used. Included is a GM SM465 4 speed trans with Novak adapted main shaft to fit the Dana 18. Both fenders and radiator support/grill are in good shape. Also included with this jeep is a complete 1986 Astro van for the V6 engine and computer and anything else. Also have a power brake unit with overhead pedals for installation.

(10/17/2012) The year and VIN don’t match on this. It seems to be a mix of a few different jeeps.
“This is 1946 Willys CJ2A Jeep with a WWII Willys MB motor, Serail # MB393830, casting 638632W2A A 3-80. The jeep is running and has a clear title. I bought this jeep because it has a WWII Willys MB motor in it. I have WWII Jeeps and intended to use it as a spare (it runs perfect, no smoke and good oil pressure). My plan was to pull the WWII motor, rebuild one of the motors I had from CJ2A’s, install it and then sell the jeep. Time marches on and I eventually found another motor that I could use as a spare. The CJ2A comes with 2 motors,, Serial # CJ2A33837 (which is a 1946; the previous owner of this motor was doing a valve job and that’s how I got it))and Serial # U48485; both turn freely and are early production (still have the oval pad); extra radiator; spare tire and mount; column shift transmission (see photo of inside, it looks really good and turns smoothly) and transfer case (this was entire drivetrain was married to the CJ2A 33837 motor); early soft top and some bows (never tried it on); extra parts; very original (i.e. right windshield, seats); no bondo, but has had sheet metal replaced (I think the side steps look cool); it has a WO 636 12 patent carb and Oakes air cleaner. I redid the brakes last year and it has a new exhaust. The seats will need to be reupholstered, but I believe that they are original, backs and seats have springs. It has your typical drips but runs and shifts fine… it’s 66 years old. It has 2 of the three original data plates on the dash (like that when I bought it). It has a T-90 transmission, but I’m guessing it origianlly had a column shifter. Currently, it is setup for 12v. It is titled as a 1947 CJ2A, that was how I got it. . . ”

The starting bid on this is $18,000. It is about 90% done according to the seller. The parts looks in good condition, but note the 2nd picture, which suggests the wires are running over the frame and, possibly, under the hat channel. I’m thinking this is a problem.
“1948 willys jeep cj2a restored & rebuilt by father and son we have owned this for apox, 25 years and have been working on the restoration when spare time came up , its 90% finished still need minor work such as seat cushions and soft top as well as a few slight items to completed – e brake hook up – dash light and stock air filter and orig windshields i have some parts that will be included , it runs well and drives fine brakes also are all new theres way to much new parts to list the body is rust free as well as frame there is no bondo under paint , a very nice example of jeep history, has movie prop 30 cal browning mounted in back witch has blaze orange tip and can not be made to fire projectiles this jeep has countless hours of work invested in it, would make a great movie prop – show car or parade truck , see photos or ask for any info needed”

Here’s a potential buyer for a tub.
“I am looking for a descent shape tub and fenders that are compatible with a 48 cj2a. I would take one of lesser condition that I can cut up and use to patch my current tub or one that is in better shape than my current tub. Would like the fenders to be in good shape.
