About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
UPDATE: Price dropped to $3000 (was $5000 2 years ago)
This one hasn’t been re-listed in over 2 years. The pics show the jeep has been been painted with a rough body paint of some kind (herculiner maybe). This jeep still has no engine or transfercase.
(05/02/2008) “1948 Willys Jeep CJ 2 – A great looking body, no engine or transfer case. Please call during business hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 253-588-7101, 800-627-0773”
(04/12/2010) The fiberglass body for my jeep came from Lakeview. It’s a tiny town, but they have a nice meat shop as well.

“This is a 1946 Willys flat fender Jeep. If you are looking for originality then you should probably stop reading. This does not have the original engine, seats, windshiels, top etc. If you are looking for a really fun toy that is dependable and goes ANYWHERE this might be your Willys. It starts with the first turn of the key and runs very well. the transfer case works as it should and this thing is unstopable if you like to 4×4. It is a great farm vehicle as well. It has a PTO out the back and there are all kinds of attachments you can find to play with. I have seen these with all kinds of PTO attachments. As far a dependability and running wise it is in great shape. The steering is a bit sloppy and I was going to attend to it but I have decided to sell it. It does not have a title but I understand it is not hard to get one in Indiana and I might be able to help with that. I have a new fishing boat comming and I need to sell quickly.”
This CJ-2A was listed on eBay for $1200 (also listed on craigslist for the same amount). No bids were made. Bidding ended on April 13, 2010. However, it looks like a decent price to me. It is a complete jeep with a PTO winch, a top, and a cj-3a windshield with good glass.
“1947 Willy’s CJ-2A with Hardtop and doors. It has a F-Head motor with a 3 speed manual transmission and a CJ-3A windshield. I bought this for $1500 almost 5 years ago. It started right up and drove until I brought it home which is right around 9,000′. I could not get it started and since it has just been sitting in the driveway. I had the starter rebuilt at the cost of $189.81 with a receipt to show. At the moment the battery is dead and the carb. needs rebuilt or replaced. My plan was to upgrade the ignition and put on a new carb. This is a good old flatfender that just needs a little time and money. There is a swing away tire carrier with 2 jerry can holders.”
(12/2/2008) Just from the pics I see several nicely done Mods, including the rear tank addition.

I built this myself. Everything on it is first class. 2000 miles total on this since ground up overhaul about eight years ago.Serious inquires only please. Please call Will.”
(10/26/09) The seller suggests at least one of these is a ’45 CJ-2A. If so, then this might be worth a look and might be a decent price if the ’45 is in good shape. Lots of parts here it appears.
“5- 45 to 48 model jeep willys. 3 complete with motors. 1 has a rebuilt motor. 2 with just body frame and chassis. all needs restoring, will make good rock climbers”
“1948 Willys CJ2A, Runs and drives, Rust in usual spots, 12 volt electrical system, Great for hunting, 4 cyl engine, 3 speed transmission, 4 wheel drive, New battery, New spark plugs, Fresh oil change, Winch, Have title, Asking $1700 , but will listen to all offers, Some work has been done since pictures were taken. call or email 940-736-6878.”
This morning, I got wondering if the Navy ordered any other vehicles besides CJ-3As. Well, I found some information across the net on various Navy Jeeps. I list some different flattie models below, but some CJ-5s and others also spent time with the Navy.
Navy CJ-2A
Over at the CJ-2A page, Bob posted an article from the Toledo Times (8/24/1946) about the Navy ordering 200 Willys Overland Jeeps in 1946 for use along the great lakes and the coasts. Bob also mentioned the Navy ordered both CJ-3As & DJ-3As.
This G503.com thread has a some images of Navy CJ-2As and examples of tags (an example tag is seen above).
Stretched Navy CJ-2A, the CJ-2E, and the CJ-2L? According to JP Magazine, a rumor persists that WO built an extended CJ-2A for the army in 1948 called the CJ-2E. However, they feel this is a rumor because there are no records for such a creation. In addition, experts they asked said the extended CJ-2As often came on a later model frame. While I have not personally seen any of the extended CJ-2As in person, I have seen enough of them for sale to make me think that they might have produced on a very limited basis.
And speaking of streched CJ-2As,
it looks like someone picked up that pinkish ‘2A that I had listed from Bonsall, Ca. He reports that he was a told a dealer (likely somewhere on the west coast) bought some CJ-2As, stretched them, and then called them a CJ-2L. Well, sure enough, the pinkish CJ-2A’s registration lists it as a CJ-2L (though not a navy jeep).
Navy CJ-3B Navy
According to the JeepDr. website, they have restored a Navy CJ-3B and have the Navy paperwork to back up the claim. Now, this might be a M-606 as the site doesn’t specifically answer this question.
