“1948 Willys Farm Jeep “Universal Jeep”
Model: CJ2A
Mileage: 24,150
Color: LUZON RED
Monroe Hydraulic Three Point Hitch
Rear PTO
Rear Winch
Front Counter Weight
Clean Ohio Title

I started disassembling mostly the front end of the Jeep, and have
documented the parts and stored in marked containers. I found this Jeep in a
barn with a concrete floor, stored for unknown decades.

The first picture shows the Jeep at the barn where found, I have 210 digital
pictures of the Jeep to send on a CD to interested buyers documenting its
condition and current state. All pictures are labeled for easy viewing.
Contact me ASAP to get your CD before it sells.

When I brought the Jeep home last year, it was put in a heated barn and I
started to soak the cylinders with Mystery Marvel Oil. I put the oil
directly into the cylinders as well as through the throat of the carburetor,
cycled the engine by hand for over two months off and on. The Motor WAS
NEVER STUCK, turned free by hand.

After replacing the spark plugs and the points, the motor fired up easily,
only putting gas in the throat of the carburetor. The engine ran smooth, no
noises or hick-ups. Oil pressure came up right after the engine started. The
engine has only been run twice for a very short period because I have not
put water or anti-freeze in. When I took the radiator cap off, it still had
pressure in the system, but no visible fluid. Total run time is about 1
minute, just enough to check oil pressure and hear the condition of the
motor.

The jeep has not been put in gear, rolls easily, no other electronics,
hydraulics, etc., have been tested at this point.

From disassembling the front of the Jeep, I have found that almost all the
bolts, nuts and screws come out with very little effort, not rusted tight.

I have purchased new parts for the jeep including new oil, temp, amp and
fuel gauges, fuel pump, fuel sending unit, air cleaner hose, points, cap,
rotor condenser, starter solenoid, and 6 volt battery. I used a new over the
counter generic oil gauge when starting the motor. I also purchased a new
over the counter generic water temp gauge to use while working on the jeep.
Two oil lines were installed to the oil filter canister to start engine and
a new oil filter was installed. I did not want to get the new Jeep gauges
damaged/scratched while working.

I also have the Parts and Service Catalog, with advertising pieces, dealer
advertising, Farm Jeep DVD, etc., for displaying at farm and car shows to
educate the public.

If you are not familiar with these jeeps, they are hard to find complete and
draw a lot of attention at shows.

What I know is missing: Top bar for the three point hitch, and the Governor,
it does have the double pulley on the front of the motor.

The front bumper is damaged, see picture.

The tailgate was installed at the manufacturer, taken off at the dealer to
install Monroe Three Point Hitch, tailgate has never been used.

When you look at the detailed pictures that will be sent by request, I used
80 Grit DA sandpaper to start to see the condition of some of the parts,
the rust showing is primarily pin holes that came through the paint and then
spread on top of the paint, overall the metal body etc, in great condition
for restoration.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3200.

You don’t see too many jeeps with Suicide doors.

“After about 12 years, way too much money and 1,000s of hours of sweat, I have completed a rebuild of this CJ2A.

Engine Components: new plugs, points & condenser, adjust timing, re-core radiator, rebuild starter, new flywheel, new coil, rebuild generator, new relay, completely rebuild the transmission (all new gears, synchronizers and bearings), all new wiring (front to back), new Solex replacement carburetor for the original Carter, new voltage regulator, plug wires, front lights, ignition switch, battery, horn.

Suspension: new springs and shocks. A steel plate for bed ( I put it under suspension because without the extra weight (250#), it beats you up), new A/T tires, new brakes and lines, Pitman arm, Tie rods.

Body (here is where it gets interesting): sanded and repainted original tub (there were 5 layers of paint to get off which included the original red that CJ2A’s came with).

I picked up a 1974 mailman’s carrier off of a ranch and fitted the top and windshield onto the CJ2A. This gave me an enclosed cab with a rear door and electric windshield wipers. Since the original doors slid on rails, I decided to hinge them and make them suicide doors. I had to custom build some latches. In response to some questions…YES, the top can be removed!

I added spot lights in the back so that I can have some light while closing gates. Put new padding and covers over seats. Painted the inside of the jeep. Remounted the spare tire carrier. I am sure I did some other things to it but I believe you get the gist of this project!”

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was $2500.

It sounds like this needs some work.

“I have a 1946 Willys Jeep that I had up at our cabin for the last few years for plowing snow, since it never was used, I am ready to part ways. The Jeep runs ok, but I am not sure I would plan on using it for daily transportation without spending a bit of time “refining” it.
It has a newer Jeep 4-cyl. engine (overhead valve). Good Tires/rebuilt carb.
It’s an old Jeep, so expect it not to be perfect. It is what it is……$2,500.00 OBO.
Thanks again for looking!!”
