Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have a solid project for the father and son or deer hunter. This is a 1946-1948 CJ-2A jeep that has potential. It does not run but the engine spins freely and the transmission and gear box both shift.”
It runs and drives.
“1947 Willys 100% stock. about 50,000 original miles.
Run and Drives But Needs Restoration!
Comes with Hardtop and 1949 homemade 4×6 trailer with cover.
The folks we got it from bought it in 1948 and used it to deliver newspapers.

A reader wondered why the price was so high. I wonder that too.
“Original Owner, 1948 Willys Jeep, CJ2A. This is an original owner vehicle that has been in the family since new, for 63 years. It has the original tires, top, and all other equipment as it did when it was picked up at the Jeep/Mack dealer in 1948. This vehicle has been kept in near pristine condition with no rust or dents. Still titled in the original owners name. The like new original owners manual is also included in the sale. This vehicle has been driven between 250-300 miles per year its whole life. It has about 150 miles on it so far this year. This is a once in a lifetime barn-find American icon that even has the only option available in 1948 which is all of the chrome beauty rings on the wheels and the spare.”

Some updates were done to this.
“1947 Willys Jeep. Starts, Runs and Drives. Needs some TLC. Amateur Restoration done by previous owner. I don’t know a ton about it, but it is alot of fun. We simply don’t use it anymore – time for someone else to enjoy it.”

This is a column shift. It’s had some body work done.
“This is 46 willys column shift…too.engine stamped GPW
It starts and runs very smooth and quiet
Needs clutch and possibly brake work.
It does not move on its own (clutch)
Alot of body panel work done…could be better but not too bad
frame great except for area in front…plow was mounted and did some damage…repairable.
Its a great start to a rare Willys but I am certain it will just sit in my barn for 20 years.”
I’ve only heard of a few flatties being stolen over the years. Keep a look out for this one.

(09/11/2011) Lots of project left.
“i started restoring this jeep and i simply have no time to finish. i would like to see it go to a good home. has original 134 4cyl flat head. exhaust system is bascially new. the frame is excellent, and the tub is very solid. Needs fuel lines, brakes, and some minor wiring to get going, i cleaned engine all up and i was told it ran well. I also have lots of extra parts. including a 1945 WWII military grill with headlights and blackout marker lights. another tub, pair of axles, and transmission. you can have it all for $1300. this is a very good project.”

(08/16/2011) Not a perfect restoration, but looks fun just the same.

It’s small enough to fit down most trails but big enough for family and friends to all enjoy!
This Willy’s runs great, along with having new shocks, alternator and has been well taken care of. I have owned it for the past 3 years, but it has been stored indoors for at least the past 10 years…since its restoration.

UPDATE: This was listed for $1995 back in March in Hillsboro, Mo. Unclear if it is being resold or if the owner moved.
